*Official* World Test Championship Final at The Oval – June 7–11, 2023

The Poms have clearly instructed the lemmings they call their groundskeepers to prepare a pitch that has a good chance of injuring our players before The Ashes.

Injuring Pat in the face should warrant a trip to The Hague for the bowler responsible.

Smith's shot was by far the worst. We've just had an away series where the 7-11 have averaged sub 10 per dismissal and we had just lose two quick wickets, yet he decides to throw his wicket away.

We've thrown this away so far. Head made 160 batting that way so I don't wanna blame him too much, but Smith and Green got out to weak shots and starc has gifted India a wicket there. Lucky India are missing 4/6ths of their best batting lineup to injury/horses for courses nonsense.
Nah, if the Aus attack hit their areas India won't make 300. I think it's harder to bat on than it was made to look yesterday by Head especially. Smith was hardly fluent and he makes hundreds here for breakfast.

I thought today it would flatten right out, but it's still doing enough, and that's with an attack that's been in the field for over a day.

So are you blaming English cricket, the groundskeepers, or the Indian seamers?

Was shardul+ash a realistic option coming into this match? Feels like that would have been the way to go in hindsight with umesh missing out but I never thought about it that way coming in.

Yeah I'm expecting an Aussie 1st innings lead of at least 100.

All nonsense. Kohli will score a double hundred by the end of day 2.

Yeah your right. It's just frustrating watching this batting lineup throw away opportunities to grind sides into the dust and make 500+ on flatter decks. The amount of times I've seen them leave 100+runs out in the middle after a great platform is frustrating.

Yeah it is an annoying habit they have, and it's largely down imo to 6-9 just not being where they were even going back to when Haddin was playing. Green and Carey are both still finding their way, and before Carey there was Paine and Nev who were both pretty average bats tstl. Wade was decent I suppose but a terrible keeper. Cummins has gone backwards with the bat and Starc is very hit and miss too. Probably only Lyon has actually improved with the bat in the Aus tail over the past 5 years or so. I really want to see Carey back himself with the bat - he has the game to score quickly and play some really important knocks with the tail.

Also, if they're going to play an allrounder, the top five likely has to knuckle down and go really big, because although Green is a massive talent he isn't in the side to average 50, much as we'd like him to.
