I sort of get why they gave Chase another over as he'd tied them down relatively the previous couple of overs; but it was obvious the pressure got to him for the 49th.

At the end of the day, the captain allocated his overs to a point where a part time off-spinner had to bowl the 49th over. Any decent t20 captain will tell you that the second last over is THE most important over in a situation like this.
