The s/r at which she is going on is only bound to put more pressure on the batters to follow in a crucial game. Not an ideal scenario. The only thing Brits has added is the stability top of the order, made sure SA did not lose wickets, And with the low scores they have been chasing has worked ok. Its obvious this is what she has been asked to do, even though she looks in terrible form as well.
I forgot Anneke Bosch is also injured.
I think Goodalll's the only other bat in the squad, but she hasn't been any more convincing than Brits. Chetty used to open, and I don't know the reasons for her dropping down the order, but maybe it's worth giving her a go back at the top. What are the alternate options for no 3 position? Luus could step up and she wouldn't do worse. Who else is on the bench?
I think du Preez at 3 makes the most sense, but I also think they want the experience at 5. I think Brits at 3 makes sense from a "we have no better options" and she is better at 3 than at 5 or 6. If we had Dane in the team I think Du Preez probably would have played 3, with Dane at 4.Also du Preez at no.5 doesn't sound convincing to me. She is their best batter in the middle order and has to be at no.4 with the likes of Luus, Kapp and Tryon to follow.
If you put Chetty at the top where do you play Brits in the line-up, or who do you replace Brits with?I think Goodalll's the only other bat in the squad, but she hasn't been any more convincing than Brits. Chetty used to open, and I don't know the reasons for her dropping down the order, but maybe it's worth giving her a go back at the top.
