Just got the chance to watch the rest of NZ v India, having successfully avoided spoilers. Bloody hell, what an emotional roller coaster that was. Well done India. Wish Melie had got one more boundary away, but **** that was a great effort from her anyway.

So I guess we need to somehow beat Australia now...

The automated no ball system seems to be working well, but they really need to improve the communication around it. Very much a "oh yeah btw this is actually a free hit" sort of thing right now.

amelia kerr is a gun, one of my favourite players to watch.

she couldn't do much more, 2-21, 34 runs and 2 catches. needed much more support.
i would bat her number four.
she is the ellyse perry of n.z. of the next decade.

International Captain
Poonam Yadav is so unbelievably slow, I'm not sure it would be possible to bowl much slower and still get the ball to pitch and hit the wicket. I'm surprised more batswomen don't charge down the wicket to turn her deliveries into full tosses.

Ind will top the league and then choke badly in SF/F once again. From U19 to Men/Women we are glorified chokers

how can you get this to the batter in time? a red light on the sightscreen signalling a no-ball?

anyways hope there's some of this circket on this weekend, signed sleep deprived of the lowlands

Possibly my NZ bias, but I would have liked to see her get POTM. But it was another great knock by Shafali.

That's the thing, there didn't seem to be any messaging regarding it at all. The most we got was the PA announcer saying "that was a no ball so this is a free hit!" just before the next ball, but I gathered that the players on the ground knew earlier. There wasn't even any big screen indicators like there are for wides.

presumably the ump would tell the batter on strike for the free hit, but still, i thought the point of the umpire calling no ball was that the batter had a notional chance to play at it

Whatever it takes!!!
But it was always notional right? I agree that the slower pace of the women might make it theoretically more of an advantage to hear the no ball call earlier but I would much rather trade that notion for the reality of more accurate calling of no-balls. Its not like the batsmen are disadvantaged now that we have free hits in all LO cricket.

That was never my understanding, I thought it was to stop the mass of uncalled no balls that has clearly become commonplace in the game, which deprives the batting side of runs and the bowler of a chance to readjust

Yeah, we have been losing semis and finals at scary consistency in all formats, all age groups and all genders.

This has been another tough day for Thailand. I hope they're learning a lot from the experience anyway.
