*Official* Women's Ashes 2025

Ecclestone shouldn't be complacent just because she's the best bowler in the team/the world. She is a role model to other players. I could accept Australia being better with the bat or ball but fitness and conditioning and strong fielding is essential if we're going to compete and given the resources in the women's game, there is no excuse for players not being at the same fitness level as Australia. Some tough love is needed.
Alex Hartley said as much after the last World Cup but it was kind of just flat out denied or scoffed at. But unless you’re totally blind it’s not hard to see it’s clearly an issue. Totally unacceptable for some of them to be in the shape they are in.

Only just seen the Perry lbw decision that was given not out on the field of play. Thank **** for DRS, that was like going back in time about 30 years. I hope that's not going to be what England have to contend with going forward...

Aus reaping what they've sowed here by continuing to persist with horribly out of form players and being really lax with their batting gameplans

I don't want to lose this series, but if it pushes them to bring back Mott or someone like him to make tough calls and reinstate some better structure and discipline, I'd be happy. Feels like they've been coasting along ignoring obvious issues because the results have still been good, but the talent levels & depth are still too high for some of the performances they've put out over the past 18 months.

The step change - for the worse - since Lanning and Haynes departed the scene for good has been dramatic. I don't really rate Mott but there really needs to be some fixing done up top; the team has looked really listless since then. Getting run so close in the previous Ashes should have been a huge warning, they did not play well at all through most of those games against an English side few would describe as vintage.

I always thought they escaped a lot of criticism due to the overarching England vs Australia rivalry narrative from that winter. Losing both limited overs series and barely retaining the trophy thanks to Ash Gardener dragging them across the line in the test match should have been seen as pretty embarrassing, but no one in Australia really wanted to concede that a retention wasn't a victory.

Watching this team has reminded me a lot of watching the Diamonds around 2018/19 when it was obvious that the decision making & standards were well off, but losses were attributed to other teams improving from increased professionalism, and it took losing two major tournaments in a row to make changes. It's very frustrating to watch as a fan because it's such a waste of talent & resources. I'm starting to get genuinely angry about the fact that Ellyse Perry got (rightly) dropped, completely transformed her game, and now is frequently having to try hold Australia's batting together because apparently no one can get dropped now & the team collectively doesn't seem to know how they want to construct an innings.

Alana King is such a gem. I hope they start using her more in the T20s.
Killing them with the drift she's getting. Great to watch.
Genuinely one of the few old school classical leggies in either the men's or women's game playing internationals at the moment; so many rely on trying to bowl fast, straight and flat like Zampa so an out and out "beat them with flight and turn" leggie is such a breath of fresh air
