Yeah, you don't know what you've got till it's gone. Win toss, bowl first, Meg'll chase it down. I think the biggest loss in this series was her leadership, and the burden it therefore put on Healy. Keeping, opening, captaining is one hell of a workload and it proved to be too much. Who is the next skipper likely to be? McGrath?I'll say it again though: Meg Lanning is one of the greatest athletes this country has produced and has been bizarrely underrated even in Australia in the last ten years. Even beyond the batting, her on-field leadership in the LO games was sorely missed.
The vibe feels like Gardner. A lot to put on her shoulders though.Yeah, you don't know what you've got till it's gone. Win toss, bowl first, Meg'll chase it down. Fantastic series though, and probably good for the overall women's game that the Aussies didn't just come in and sweep England aside. Every game was ultra competitive and England have shown that you don't need to be overawed by this Aussie side. far from it, they've exposed shortcomings that can be attacked in the future.
England, obviously reliant on the crazy talent that is NSB, interesting to hear her say she wasn't in a good place for the Test. She certainly seemed to be by the end. The young fast bowling stocks look decent with Bell, Filer and Wong. Ecclestone is so reliable whilst Dean and Capsey look real talents for the future.
She does seem quite a calm, level headed type who doesn't get overly excited by things going on around her. I can see that working. The vibe feels like Gardner. A lot to put on her shoulders though.
Is it not McGrath? She was officially VC for the Ashes. The vibe feels like Gardner. A lot to put on her shoulders though.
