***Official*** West Indies Tour of Pakistan- TEST SERIES- Jan 16 to 28, 2025

It will be interesting to see what Sammy does with Kraigg. He's certainly not a good captain to complement Sammy's style, so I really do feel he will lose the captaincy. It's just a case of whether to keep selecting him or not.
We’re not too far from Shai being the all-format captain.

Kraigg’s game doesn’t work with Sammy; he’ll get the kick after playing 100 tests

Maybe Sammy could have a good conversation with KB about what the plan going forward is, if he can get Lewis involved in Test cricket then that changes things as would getting King and Hope involved.

Pace stocks are fine with young Isai Thorne and a couple of others coming through. Wickham, Kevlon and Jewell Andrew kick on then there are reasons for optimism.

I'd be surprised if this tour finishes anything other than a 2-0 win for the hosts.

I think this is what they will go with:

KB
Louis
Carty
Hodge
Athanaze
Greaves
JDS
Sinclair
Roach
Warrican
Seales

lt would be a crime not to have Jangoo playing in the first test

I don’t know what kind of plans Sammy has, but judging from his stint in the white ball formats, he’s heavily reliant on stats and matchups.

If he brings this over to the longer format, we are in for a good ride.
As well as stats and match ups, he also clearly established an identity for our white ball sides based on our strengths and weaknesses. We are now a team with lots of big hitters who are far better at chasing and the players all understand that. He also worked on our biggest weakness, dot balls in the middle overs, and has decreased the dot ball percentage dramatically.

So I think we can expect a specific ethos and approach that he will stick to and the players will be made to understand their roles.

The test side has a clear pace bowling strength, but the batting has no identity or clear approach, so Sammy like clarity will be a big plus.

If it were me, I'd tear up most of the batting and come up with our own version of pragmatic bazball, bringing Shai, King, Jangoo and hopefully Pooran into the red ball set up and giving them license to be aggressive, within reason. I'd mix that with the odd moderate batter like Mikyke Louis and JDS. Our test side would then rely on an excellent group of pacers allied with attacking batting. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Do we play Jangoo as the keeper and open with JDS? Any chance all three keepers play?
I'm pretty sure England have often played 3 keepers in some sides although that has often been in the white ball stuff. Even so we have Pope as well as Jamie Smith having been in the test team and even Ben Duckett has previously been a wicket-keeper

Oh yeah, I am well aware of England’s usage of multiple players in their team that can keep.

Personally I think it's a good decision. Sammy has shown an ability to create a coherent culture and identity with our white ball teams. He's also brought some of our more talented players back into the fray (Lewis, Russell).

Our test batting lineup has no identity, they just grind until they get out. Our talent pool is too small to separate white and red ball cricket. Our best batters are our best batters regardless of format, we need them playing tests.
You need nicholas pooran to play tests

kraigg is the best test match batsman available to the west indies by a country mile. you are all out of your mind wanting to drop him considering his likely replacement would be some dunce like mccaskie.

yes his form has been poor for a while but so has every other west indian batsman. the one thing we do know is that recent form is the norm for the other guys, where as kraigg has a proven record that shows he can get runs at this level.

as for pooran playing tests.....lol. an absolute snow balls chance in hell.

sure give king a go, bring back hope whose record is absolutely dismal. but don't throw away your best test batsman thinking it will make any difference.

It’s time to pack up for Kraigg. The numbers he’s churning out for our best batsman certainly evokes questions of what the **** is his modus operandi

Against Bangladesh, he looked lost. Deer in the headlights

It’s fair to say that he is done.

This one will be most likely starting eleven.

My XI is different. I want Jangoo in there, because he is red hot at the moment and he is more attuned to playing on these type of wickets
