***Official*** West Indies Tour of Pakistan- TEST SERIES- Jan 16 to 28, 2025

We will be touring the land of industrial fans (sarcasm, guys) to participate in a 2-match test series next month.

If I was taking over this team as a coach or manager, I’d give Kraigg the boot. We sit at the bottom of the WTC with nothing to play for except our pride. His manner of play is so self defeating that it impacts the team negativity

For the first time in my living memory, we have included 3 wicket-keepers in the squad of 15. Jangoo with his maiden test call up, vice captain Joshua Da Silva, and Tevin Imlach (currently an expert benchwarmer)

1. Kraigg Brathwaite (capt.)
2. Joshua Da Silva (vc and wk)
3 Alick Athanaze
4. Keacy Carty
5. Justin Greaves
6. Kavem Hodge
7. Tevin Imlach (wk)
8. Amir Jangoo (wk)
9. Mikyle Louis
10. Gudakesh Motie
11. Anderson Phillip
12. Kemar Roach
13. Kevin Sinclair
14. Jayden Seales

Should I play Jangoo as the keeper and open with JDS? Yes.

Do we play Jangoo as the keeper and open with JDS? Any chance all three keepers play?
I would change all of them after the 'performance' against Bangladesh and yes would consider playing all the keepers.

However, Andre Coley has shown himself to be very conservative since becoming the main selector, so I expect more of the same.

My XI

Kraigg (reluctantly)
Louis
Imlach
Hodge
Jangoo
Greaves
JDS
Sinclair
Motie
Seales
Roach

Coleys likely XI

Kraigg
Louis
Carty
Athanaze
Hodge
Jangoo
Greaves
JDS
Motie
Warrican
Seales

Just because it's Pakistan we are going to see the two spinners. Roach will play the first, Seales the second.

Imlach needs a go here with confidence. He's Guyanese and does play spin well, and he can build an innings. Athanaze has been really frustrating to me.

Yep I'm done with Athanaze until he demonstrates he can bat 2 or 3 sessions in the 4 day season. Even his big runs in FC cricket so far have been by beating attacks at 80 to 100 strike rates and then getting out. I want/need to see more.

When the sun is shining, he makes hay. In the Bangladesh series we saw his looseness and he couldn't even defend his stumps well. This shows that his defense is lacking severely.

In general, this feels like an odd series for us. It's Andre Coleys last series before Darren Sammy comes in and likely completely changes the test teams culture from this grindball nonsense (please God).

So it all feels a bit incoherent, like the entire thing is a dead rubber. I guess the main motivation is that most of our batters are likely to lose their spot if we do change approach in tests, so they have to perform to keep their spots.

Darren sammy😲 it is a bad decision just like we appointed gambhir as test coach for which we are paying now😕

Personally I think it's a good decision. Sammy has shown an ability to create a coherent culture and identity with our white ball teams. He's also brought some of our more talented players back into the fray (Lewis, Russell).

Our test batting lineup has no identity, they just grind until they get out. Our talent pool is too small to separate white and red ball cricket. Our best batters are our best batters regardless of format, we need them playing tests.

Right, so that’s why I think we should have dropped Kraigg from this already. I know that how much he wants to play a 100 tests. But, he’s mediocre and this is the only format that he plays in. It’s ridiculous. Better players would have worked on their game: see Shai Hope in the ODI setup. Lead from the from with intent

It will be interesting to see what Sammy does with Kraigg. He's certainly not a good captain to complement Sammy's style, so I really do feel he will lose the captaincy. It's just a case of whether to keep selecting him or not.
