He can clearly get through his overs just fine. At an admirable rate actually. Catches well and is an excellent close in fielder. If he can keep doing a job in the slips and tonk a few when he bats on top of his bowling I don't see the problem.

It’s not about speed he gets through his overs, his action is minimal, but could he get more action on the ball and more energy into his action if he was fitter ? He surely must do mustn’t he ? So he’s selling his nation short by not getting himself fitter.

For all the hype behind Cornwall he has been a bit underwhelming. Strikes me as someone who needs one of those slow, undercooked Caribbean pitches from the last fifteen years.
on the other hand he?s an offspinner bowling on day one in england after not playing the past two matches, and against what is a batting lineup with a renewed vigour after bossing the second test

it?s hardly a situation you can expect him to go in and take a michelle

need buttler to keep making scores at the tail of series so they can’t drop him, and he can come to australia and average 4

Yes too much can’t be expected of him on day one, he did get one to turn fairly sharply off the pitch (not out of any early footholes) to Burns to put some doubt in the batters minds but thereafter didn’t get a whole lot of purchase.

Just going by his action here; like Woodster says, he doesn't appear to be putting enough body into his bowling. Maybe that's just an illusion furthered by the sheer physicality of the man.

This is pure ****ing horse ****, **** off. There is no excuse for a professional sportsperson to look like that. He just needs to get onto a diet that isn't stuffed full of sugar and processed crap and be disciplined with it for a few months so his poor hormone system can normalise it's response to food and how his body deals with the energy coming in.
an intelligent response. i assume you watch him eat?

i don't think you've met many humans, which is understandable because you're a libertarian in your mother's basement. some people are large. diet can exacerbate it, but others are just gon' be huge. someone at work is a 6 foot 5 woman who probably weighs 150kg and i think she might actually have gigantism or whatever it's called.

rakheem himself is really ****in tall too. he's 6 foot 6 and likely a naturally heavy man. you could be right, he might enjoy a pie or ten, but to assume he does and call him a disgrace when he's already a better athlete than you'll ever be #freedomboi is entertaining. please continue.

Personally think it would be almost life-affirming if he goes on to have a decent career despite his size; as long as he stays reasonably healthy obviously.

the windies have a lot of unlikely heroes in their bowling. their most experienced quick is tiny and skinny, their offie is huge and their most athletic looking dude struggles to crack 130kph.

gabriel is the only one you look at and he makes sense.

I think, if England are smart and look at the weather forecast in the next couple days, they should up the run rate tomorrow and try and score as many runs in the shortest time possible. Monday is likely to be a washout so we can’t afford to take up too much time and waste time. We have a chance to win this series (weather permitting of course).

Windies can't carry on like this without any trust in their batsmen, completely reliant on their bowlers and bowling first every time. They really need some batsmen from somewhere. At least someone of Gayle, Sarwan or chanderpaul's quality will be really good.

Whatever it takes!!!
Strauss made a good point on commentary there about how Buttler looked a lot better when he came straight off the IPL for a test series. For some batsmen, when you are actually thinking about hitting the ball and scoring runs instead of just staying there, mentally it just makes such a big difference. Footwork becomes a lot more decisive, you just naturally seem to get into better positions even to defend or leave... Key is to walk the tight rope between the positivity and going all hail Mary with the stroke play.
