Whatever it takes!!!
Don't understand the logic of this at all.

AT 3, he is walking in after an early wicket where his natural game might lead him to play what maybe termed a rash shot and it creates pressure. At the top, with zero wickets down, there is just a little bit more of a licence to be able to play your game. What I hate to happen is that he will bat at 3, get out caught in the cordon playing a few flashy drives, everyone will get on about how he is not good enough for this level and he will be discarded. Ideally, he would bat 4 but Root is there, so I think, given he is an opener at the county level, he can bat there better than at #3.

Blackwood has played that shot successfully throughout his innings, so the cliched "live by the sword, die by it" thing applies here I guess.

I guess a leopard doesn't change its spots. Blackwood just keeps throwing his wicket away with the same needless shot. He's been doing this since his debut all those years ago.

As I mentioned, Blackwood just does not seem to be the guy who can coolly guide a team to their target. Just don't understand why can't he go straighter with his lofted drives. Seems to hit mid off everytime.

If one's going to throw one's wicket away, 95 runs to your name, 11 runs needed for the win and 5 men in the hutch is one of the better times to do it.

Wood seems to benefit from the around the wicket angle to the lefties. Seemed to be very straight up and down from over the wicket. Remember Pedro Collins all those years ago, was standard left arm medium fare from over the wicket with literally no movement, apart from along the angle. Moment he came around the wicket, he started being able to take the ball away from the right handers from that angle and the odd one would go on into the batsman with the angle.
