Look, everyone knows they're a rare breed. Just special humans in the worst way. Becoming a match official in any sport makes you a ****wit, it's just a question of the degree to which you are ****ed up.

Abood also came up through the grade ranks when the late friend of mine who died last year was umpiring, and probably learned to be a complete **** on the park who makes it all about him from said mate, who was a past master at it.

Not all match officials are f....d. That means you're implying I am too. There's good and bad in every industry/occupation. Some of my best friends are umpires and there's nothing wrong with them. Same goes for players and indeed spectators.....theres good and bad.

Nah I wouldn't say I'm special. I'm normal just like everyone else. I guarantee you, us cricket umpires...we aren't special.

Johnson Charles has always been an awful hack but must admit he middled a few and was reasonably effective in the first 2 games.

This is more reversion to form for him though. Even when he makes runs he swing and misses nearly half the balls he faces. Genuine hack

He's always looked a bit faster than his speed gun readings. Even several years and injuries ago when he first emerged in the BBL he rarely bowled more than mid-130s IIRC.
