:O :O . I thought he was one of their better batsman.
He's not amazing but I doubt Sibanda (or whatever his name is, give me a break I'm shattered) is any better.

I forgot to mention this before, but on the news on Friday they announced that we will get live TV coverage. This shocked me totally, because on Wednesday the media gave the impression that even radio coverage was an impossibility.

Mate do you have pay tv or something? Because you seem to be making points about lots of these matches and seem to know lots.

Yes I have cable. No, I will not be seeing a ball of this series, but I am very knowledgeable on West Indies Cricket. Ok, maybe not as much as Liam (since he lives there), but I like to know a thing or two on WI cricket.

How do you know so much? And also, you make a few comments on some domestic WI players. Do they show it on pay tv, or do you get these stats off cricinfo?

They only show important domestic matches as live broadcast. It is very unlikely that this is available on cable as it shows on local stations here.

Gavin Ewing finally gets a wicket and some runs under his belt, I think it's a bad case of nerves and the faster he gets over it the better off Zimbabwe are. Although someone with an average of nearly 50 batting below Maregwede, average 20, is rather confusing.

That was Samuels' 2nd FC 100, his 1st was scored in a Test match.
Samuels made his FC debute Vs Australia at the Gaba in a Test how many people can say that lol.

It wasn't at the GABBA it was at the Adelaide Oval. The team for the GABBA (from memory) is:

Ganga
Campbell
Lara
Chanderpaul
Adams
Sarwan
Jacobs
McLean
Dilon
Black
Walsh

He did not.

FC career started in 1996/97.

Test career started in 2000/01.

Lara's record hunt

Forget the world record...

* Lara is at 8,404 Test runs in his career, second the Windies alltime list behind Sir Viv Richards (8540). He needs only 137 mor runs to become the highest scoring West Indian Test player of all time.

* Lara has 8,233 ODI runs, second to Haynes (8,648) and needs only 426 runs to become the highest scoring West Indian ODI player of all time.

* He's played 96 Tests and with 4 more, he will be only the 7th to have played 100+.

* He's played 219 ODI's, 19 behind leader Desmond Haynes.

* Behind Sobers (26) and Richards (24), Lara is 3rd on the Test centuries list, with 21. He is 5 away from surpassing Richards' 45 fifties.

* Lara and Haynes (17) are tied for the most West Indian ODI hundreds.

* 7 more catches in ODI's would take Lara to his century - becoming only the third to do so, behind Hooper (120) and Viv Richards (100).

Notable: 97 ODI hundreds have been scored in WI cricket history. Who will notch the 100th century?

I summarized these points from another superb article by Imran Khan, the West Indian columnist who wrote the Hayden/Lara predestined article.

I am glad that Matsikenyeri is going to be given a chance. He, along with Taibu, Masakadza and Ervine can form the backbone of a decent side. He has real talent and class.
The selection of Mahwire is obviously Quota-born and makes no sense considering Mbangwa's test average. Pommie is a far better bowler than Mahwire and should be playing every game.
Gavin Ewing being dropped = madness. The man has a 1st class average of over fifty! He is being left out because of his bowling yet he is a BATSMAN who can bowl a few overs, but he is no allrounder.

WI XI named

Dillon out. I heard something about a muscle strain.

Samuels hard done IMO. He scores a hundred and Hinds scores single digits in both knocks v Zimbabwe A, then he's dropped.

Edwards in. :D

Ewing considers himself as more of a bowler, although when he's batted he's been at number 8 or 9.

Matsikenyeri real class? When I last saw him play in England earlier this year he showed exactly why he has a ODI average of 12.14 from 9 ODIs...it's because he is extreamly raw and does not appear to have a technique...

I think you may find that was Robert Samuals.

I cant imagine he started his FC carear at only 15 years of age.

One would imagine the Zimbabwe team should be fairly well prepared considering they've recently played 2 tests against Australia.

It'll be interesting to see how Taylor & Edwards bowl...or how quickly they bowl anyway.

You may be right marc on his profile it does say 1996/1997.

sound's weird though because he was only like 18 when he made his test debut 19 at the oldest and I remember hearing one of the commentators saying he had yet to play a FC match.

And he has still only palyed 39 FC matches 19 of witch are tests thats not very many in over 7 years.

NO WI domestic cricket. Cricinfo, caribbeancricket.com, and I did post on the Cable & Wireless forums at cwcricket.com - I was a well respected member on there.
