***Official*** West Indies in Sri Lanka 2015

So the List A warm up has been interesting. We batted first and the top order produced their standard 2014/15 performance to see us reduced to 100/7 with Fernando and Udana doing the damage with the new ball.

Then Andre Russell and Carlos Braithwaite pulverised all the bowlers to lift us to 318 all out. They hit 13 sixes between them and Carlos got his maiden List A century. More proof of the unbelievable hitting talent we have throughout the Caribbean. It's just a shame no-one can bat properly any more to go with it.

Too bad Andre Russell can't play test cricket now due to his knee issues - perfect all rounder for WI in that format.

Fletcher and Charles are opening the batting while Lakmal takes the new ball. What a start to an international cricket match. I think I'll keep watching the other game.

The really sad thing about that combination is the fact that the West Indies have picked a stacked a lower order hitters and therefore really needed some substances from the top four. They thought Charles and Fletcher was their best chance for that. It's hard to even actually argue much given their lack of other options. I despair.

Just open with Brathwaite in ODIs too then.
Yeah that's what I'd be doing but 0 LIst A tons and poor recent form in the format he's meant to be a good in isn't exactly a compelling case. Their young top order batting hopes like Blackwood are all really boundary-reliant and therefore List A shunts (although Hope has only actually played two List A games  ); finding players to bat 1-5 in ODIs without just teeing off is an even bigger worry than their Test cricket drama IMO.

Average of 34ish in List A cricket without a ton is arguably perfect though. He makes tons, he takes 130 balls to do it IMO, which in modern ODI cricket is getting into "bad ton" territory. So if he's constantly making 35(50) before letting the copious amounts of WI icing take the floor and score at 8rpo for the last 25, he's probably doing a better job for the team than if he bats through and the WI end up 4 down at the end of their overs.

Basically, they need a cake up the top. And the West Indies do not have any cake whatsoever, so out-of-form and unsuited cake >>>>>>>>> Johnson ****ing Charles

I honestly don't know what they're going to do about our batting lineup in either tests or ODIs. There's nobody left who can bat consistently sensibly. Bravo is brilliant but mercurial as is Samuels and there is nobody else. The forcing out of Sarwan and Shiv has ruined our middle over ODI batting and Gayle picking and choosing when to play has left us with nothing but trolls at the top of the order.

The only way we are going to win matches at the moment is through superior lower order hitting and skill full bowling, I can't see anyone constructing a total to defend.

I would bat Kraigg up top as well because at least he's solid and can use up some overs. Otherwise nobody is ready to come into the side yet, we need some good domestic batting performances this season.
