In the group match v SA, Aus put up 377 which I remember thinking was quite impressive despite the small ground. I think SA just thought it better be a huge total for Aus to chase in the SF, but the ultra-aggressive approach backfired. I doubt comments had anything to do with it.Ive posted about the 2007 semi being a choke so many times recently for sone reason. I consider it a mental collapse because if how sa let Australia's pre match comments affect their game plan. They were called meek and slow and to prove a point they tried to slog McGrath and Lee for sixes every over. Choke maybe the wrong word.... I guess you could call it one of the best examples of letting an opponent's comments get to you. Was a display of total mental fragility imo.
Aus was by far the best team there; those 5min just before the WC when SA held pole position in the ODI rankings were a scheduling fluke.
