***Official** West Indies in Pakistan

Jono

If India can win a series in WI, I reckon Pak can.

Tests: Pak 2-0
ODIs: 3-2 either way. Probably Pak but you never know.

Silly mistake to make really Jono considering you don't find test cricket played in November in Windies. :p

Test series - 1-1.
ODIs - Pakistan 4-1.

Simmons selection i guess is deserved based on what i've heard from my people in Trinidad since the likes of Hinds, the Smith's & Samuel have either failed or just don't look the part anymore.

Collins even though hasn't played much this year could have still got the nod over Daren Powell IMO, even if the selectors wanted to pick Banks as the second spinner, since at his best he rivals Collymore as the windies best bowler.

Overall i expect Pakistan to win the test series comfortably while the ODI series could be very exciting.

Gayle, Ganga, Sarwan, Lara, Chanderpaul, Bravo, Ramdin, Mohammed, Taylor, Edwards, Collymore ... is that the likely lineup?

Shoaib will smoke some .
Shoaib will definately be the 'major major major' difference between the two sides . Lara will just have one good inning either in the Odis or the tests . It will be Gayle coming outa Windian squad and Sarwan will make a 50 or two in the ODIs but might fail miserably overall in the tests . Younis will be the top scorer from Pakistan .

What is Lendl SImmons like? Is he primarly a batsman or can he bowl as well? I noted his FC average wasn't too special, so I guess recent form had to do with it.
When he started out he used to bowl occasionally and actually had some success doing so, but he then started wicketkeeping or playing as a specialist batsman. I'll do a full profile piece on him for CW soon.

EDIT: Hence, FC bowling average of 15podd.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Devon Smith. They carried him to New Zealand and he didn't get a game. It's not like he's failed recently.

How is Lendl Simmons, Liam?
Very talented young batsman, but also very inconsistent and indisciplined. He's been more consistent recently, but I'm still far from convinced. I'd much prefer Devon Smith as the number 2 to Ganga.

I don't get it. Pakistan lost 2 ODIs to England recently and the West Indies has played some pretty good ODI cricket this year. Surely they've got a good chance of winning more than 1 ODI. Certainly a much better chance of winning the ODI series than winning a Test match at all.

:) Fraz was after me regarding the test series earlier and now you. Chill dude.

One thing which has to be taken into account is how unpredictable the two teams are - both Pakistan and West Indies. Pakistan was ahead in England in the one day series but then performed pretty poorly. Windies collapses are familiar to us as well. So any thing can happen but I am thinking that given home conditions and given Pakistan is a good one day side as well, they might over power Windies 4-1.

In tests, Pakistan has been poor right through their history at home and some how they lose at home when no one expects them to. In the 90s, Windies went to Pakistan and actually won a series as well (if I remember correctly). So you never know. Windies may end up winning a test in Pakistan and the series ending 1-1.

Any thing can happen though and so don't feel I am saying Windies is as good a test side as Pakistan or Windies is so much crapper than Pakistan one day cricket wise there..
