Samuels reminds me of Ritchie Richardson. The no foot movement , exaggerated weight shifting, when playing attacking shots to full balls.

I'm disappointed with our bowling effort in both tests so far. Southee is hardly swinging the ball and Wagner has lost it completely. A lot of praise is being heaped on Sodhi but he has a long way to go. Way too many 4 balls. Sodhi should be concentrating more on accuracy rather than spinning the ball.
No no no no no. We want young spinners to concentrate on spinning the ball as much as they can. Accuracy comes with age - through bowling thousands of overs and maturing physically and mentally.

I'll take 6/6 accurate and probing deliveries to 2/6 ripping spinners.

Phlegm's Propaganda of the Day - Ross Taylor averages 59.69 since the 1st of January 2012 (19 tests) and 93 in New Zealand (9 tests). He has scored 5 of his 10 hundreds during this period.
Nice stats! I think Taylor is maturing as a batsman and I hope he keeps at it. It's funny listening to the radio commentators checking to see if Taylor is eyeing the midwicket boundary while batting. Taylor's been very disciplined and this is good to see.

There is an article in the Herald today comparing Taylor to the other top NZ batsmen. I agree with the author that Taylor is still not quite at Crowe's level but in my opinion he is second only to Crowe. Taylor's still got at least 5 years left and if he continues performing consistently then there is a good chance he'll surpass Crowe as NZ's all time best batsman.

Able to watch this morning. Boult looking good, Southee not great though - inaccurate and I think commentators are right that he's struggling with rhythm today. I get bowling low 130s to make the most of these conditions but as low as 124km/h seems sub-par.

At this stage in his career, I'd prefer the big spinners. He's a leg spinner, he's not going to be relentlessly accurate.
What's the point of bowling a couple of big leggies if the rest of your bowling is rubbish? Let's face it Sodhi is not a Warne style ripper of the ball and never will be. With the right type of conditions he may bowl the occasional ripper. I still feel he should be working more on accuracy and a probing line. He should make it hard for batsmen to score and set them up for the wrong 'un.

Boult's bowled without much luck this series. I saw him clocked at 145kph for one of his deliveries. Good to see he has that one up his sleeve.

Can't believe we're letting Deonarine score runs.

The big mistake was bowling Sodhi and Williamson at the end of the day. I can't fathom why you'd do that with a new batsman at the crease.

The point is that while he might be inaccurate now, in 3 or 4 years he will become a lot more accurate, and if he's spinning it big then then he's in business.

Yup.

Which is why it's rubbish that he has to learn that at test level, but whatever.
