lose drives. McMillanesque you could say
I'm not sure how feasible it is but yeah, it's really negative cricket and doesn't make for good viewing. There are already the body line-induced fielding laws that prevent too many behind square on the leg side, so there are runs to be had but they're inherently risky shots and it's not exactly getting the batsmen out by beating them.
Batting at number five is not easier than batting at seven.McCullum has two tons as a specialist batsman after 30 odd games and now bats in the easiest position possible. He was a world class keeper bat, is an astute skipper and was briefly a good opener but overall he isn't a very good specialist batsman and has undersold himself. I'm not calling for his head, but in an alternate universe where Watling forgets how to keep wicket tomorrow I'd rate him higher as a specialist batsman than McCullum. If his name wasn't McCullum he would be seriously under the gun.
5/6 since England home series is what I was getting at. And 7 is pretty tricky because you need to both marshall the tail and be the last line of defence or bring a chase home.Batting at number five is not easier than batting at seven.
And as I say that Boult goes nuts. See him making some runs, but not hanging around all that long.Would love for Watling to double it here. Boult's capable enough with the bat.
