Yes I was surprised too that Fleming didn't beat Cairns and McMillan. Checked McMillan's career numbers to that peak date in 2000 and he averaged 42.75 with runs against some fairly good opposition and some bullying of Zimbabwe (though they weren't bad at that point in time either). Believe it or not I used to be a big McMillan fan, but a lot went awry in the second half of his career.

Very good session for New Zealand. The windies bowling two spinners before tea on a day 1 greentop says it all about their seamers. Atrocious over rate as well, these two are going to have to bowl a lot more after tea.

Yes this was a good session. What's par score on this pitch? (independent of respective batting and bowling strengths). 300? If we could get 380 that would be a good position right.

Yeah, really, really poor. On the first morning of a test match, first session, they bowled 25 overs. And that's with Shillingford bowling a couple, and 7 maidens. Absolutely ridiculous.

I was also pretty taken aback to see Howath in there given his career average of 32.

Turns out that from March 1978 to March 1981 he averaged 59 over the course of 13 tests. His average for his other 34 tests was less than 23!

Every time we've got on top we've let WI back in with a wicket. We could be in a really dominant position right now had either of Williamson or McCullum not thrown their wickets away. Thank god that Taylor seems to know how to keep going.

Was great to listen to Taylor and KW on the radio. Gutted KW got out. Still reading through the thread but I'll say it now - Hendo's Hero ain't ready and Raval is still a much better opening batsman than him. I haven't seen anything of Rudds today though so I'm not going to call for his head yet. Remember guys he was a beast prior to his initial selection. Scored a double hundred with a broken arm ffs.

Yeah guys bedding Anderson in against spin is not a good idea. Pacemen on as soon as he's in to draw the village flirt outside off.

Both. EDIT: Whoops, read your "and" as "or". Answer I'm looking for is "yes".

Very much so. I actually recorded the game so I'll see if I still have it, although I have a feeling I've deleted it now.
They showed close-ups of his grip and wrist release. His wrist comes down perfectly for an outswinger but for some reason that only he knows he's holding the seam pointing at fine leg so it ends up coming out totally scrambled. Hopefully the analysts don't pick up on it or else he might actually take a wicket
