Zomg tickets at the Wankhade are going for Rs.50 (US$1). Will most definitely be packed today.

Jerome Taylor would've been useful for the Windies about now.

Chanders is out with a calf strain and Roach has got tummy problems.

Blah India bowling..

Oh well, looks like it will help the pacers a bit at the start + Aaron with his pace would make for interesting viewing.

Nah, Need 2 spinners at home.
In general, yes. But for this match we can afford to risk it and test the bowling attack. Yadav's still at the stage where he needs to learn from every match before Australia. Ishant has not found any form. So you need to drop a spinner.

TBF I would have gone with a five man bowling attack if you really did want to debut a new fast bowler. Surprised they dropped Yadav - 9 wickets in two matches @ 21 - we've no idea if he is Test class at the moment. If you're going to give someone a shot in the Test team, you should give them a fair shot to see if they belong or not.

The problem with a 5 man bowling attack is that none of them are great batsman. And you need to try out Kohli too here and also want to win the match.

The only real explanation i can find for this is that it is to get Ishant into some rythm or check him out for the final time before selection. Yadav and Aaron are probably going to be playing ODI'S too and not Ishant.

Interesting thoughts from Michael Holding (I think). Confirms what Outswinger@Pace has been saying about the problem with the system with regards to pace bowling.

Yeah, that's Ian Bishop.

And tbf to the coaches, unless you can reverse it or swing it at pace(which may be not that common at a younger age) on Indian pitches slow, line and length nibbles as he called it is more effective.

So in a way if they tell them to bowl quicker without line and length at that age, they may get whacked around and their performance may suffer as a result in the short terms leading to sacking of coach and their dropping. Is kind of a tough conundrum.

Would not take Harby. Taking him without him doing anything of note in the Ranji is a disgrace. Besides, once we bring him there, the selectors might be tempted to do an RP Singh and play him based on his previous exploits there.
Harby doesn't have any exceptional performances in Australia to begin with. But that's besides the point. Harby is still very much in contention as a spinner, firstly he needs to be fully fit, was pretty surprised at him being injured in the England tour, considering he's only a spinner. Ojha's role in the team is of containment, I don't consider him a big threat for Australia, Aswhin's performances also need to be taken into context. So Harby defo gets in the squad at least. You can't leave a player as big as him on a big tour like Australia, might not feature in the playing 11 but you have to take him to Aus.

Nah, there is no way i would take Harby to Australia. Rather take Mishra as Leggies have been more effective in Australia over the years with the bounce.

Reckon Ojha would go decently well there too tbh.

Yeah it's hard on the coaches. It's the pitches mainly..

May as well bring Sreesanth along then?
Sree is utter crap, Harby's achieved a lot more than him, neither Ohja or Ashwin have played a test match outside of the sub-Continent. Really hope you guys aren't expecting them to do really well. If Bhajji had played against this WI side on these pitches he'd have done just as well as Ashwin and Ojha have. Bhajji's been massively unlucky in the kind of pitches he's had to bowl at, even in home conditions he's had to bowl a some complete roads which has led up to his "lack of form" so to speak.

Mishra is garbage, sort out your no-ball problem first and then we'll talk about him.

Can't see us taking more than 2 spinners tbh. Ojha and Ashwin have pretty much sealed their spot here, i would think.

Hell i'd even pick Bhargav Bhatt/Murali Karthik/Iqbal Abdullah(If not Mishra) as a backup ahead of Harby right now to give them experience right now tbh(Except Karthik). Also Harbhajan has bowled on helpful tracks in India as well as in West Indies recently, but was outperformed by his counterparts. To add to which, Isn't doing much in Ranji and has a poor record in Australia too.So basically nothing going for him in terms of selection AFAIC.
