***Official*** West Indies in England

I did want Shah in the side, preferably all four matches in WI rather than the three he got. But I didn't really realise how disasterous his running was until I watched those matches, plus I think it showed up how much of a better fielder Bell is (absolutely loads), and Shah's cramp incidents are getting worrying. Also, Shah seems to think the IPL is good preparation to keep his test spot. All these things are making me wonder about my initial thoughts about Shah in the test team.
Shah sucks. Bell is a better prospect.

It's quite disappointing that there's hardly a whimper in the English press about the arrival of the WI team in England....
They're playing Leicestershire on Tuesday, and the cricket news is obsessed with either the Ashes or the IPL.

Vaughan the opener was only ever effective in 2002 and early-2003, when he had hundreds of let-offs. He has never, ever been good at opening the batting in Test cricket, and not surprisingly either.
Vaughan's peak as a Test batsman was v India in 2002 and in Australia in 2002/3 when he opened the innings and did so to striking and glorious effect. I fail to see how you could possibly deny that he was "good at opening the batting" during that period.

Well... truth be told he was better than poor in said period, but he was nowhere near as good as his scorebook scores made him look. Dropped catches, Umpiring reprieves etc. - without them he'd have been exactly the same in that period as he always has been. The odd massive score and lots and lots of quick 20s and 30s.

Quite frankly, with the second series between the two in a month, it's hardly surprising.

Well with the press not having anything good to say about England im not surprise they are not talking about the series.

Yeah, but last year when the same happened with the Kiwis, the English press had more to say about the Kiwis visit to England....

I think that, once again, it's the English press's obsession with the Ashes that's overshadowing the WI visit. It's a bit disrespectful to the WIndies, IMHO. After all, the WI did beat England 1-0 in the test series in the Caribbean. But I suppose this is the English media we're talking about.
Thankfully, we have the WICB website to provide us with some information on the WI tour of England:

:West Indies Cricket Board New pacers ready to deliver for West Indies

"The Windies had their first training session Friday evening at the Middlesex County Club Academy, after cold and damp conditions forced them indoors."

This has some nice interviews with both Pascal and Richardson....

Yeah, just read the Sunday Times, and there's absolutely no reference to the West Indies being in England, or the fact that they're playing their tour opener against Leicestershire day after tomorrow....

Good to see that the BBC and cricinfo have finally pulled themselves out of their IPL lovefest to finally write something about the Windies in England....

IPL with a Flintoff/KP slant
How completely and utterly tiresome and predictable. Cricket is not about KP, Freddie and the IPL.

So far the IPL Season 2 games seem to have been the usual woeful non-contests that we've come to expect from T20 cricket.
