It wasn't but also it wasn't a 240-9 day either. If WI had finished 240-5/6 then that would have been about right.
Yeah I think that's fair, but I'm talking about the manner Chanders batted, which seems to have come under some criticism.

I've seen Chanderpaul go after the bowling. He's hardly Mark Richardson.

If anything I'd say he lacks the mid-tempo. He's either slow or (and this happens less often) all guns blazing.
Dubious. I think he's got far too many one-day middle-order runs for that to really be true.

His biggest oddity is that if you saw him play either format you'd say he'd be useless in the other. In a Test match he looks like he has no mid tempo and he's crap between the wickets, and if you first saw him in an ODI you'd think "fair enough, but there's no way he'd score Test runs with a technique like that".

some behind the scenes talk on my stream. upon a batsman being dismissed fishing out-side off Nasser says "Nick Knight knows all about this"

I don't see how you can criticise Shiv, without him WI would be getting pummelled by everyone, he plays his way and keeps the side in matches by scoring heavily. Remove him and his runs from the team and WI would struggle to pass 200 in any innings.

I guess the nearest bloke to him is Kallis, he bats in the bubble but deserves the criticism more as he won't change gears even when SA are on top and looking to set up declarations. Trott does too for England to some extent but he does know there are guys lower in the order like KP and Prior who can easily make up time in a game with some power hitting.

All sides could do with a guy who scores over 10000 runs averaging over 50 though. Shiv probably gets too much unfair stick as he isn't pleasing on the eye, far more effective than many supposed better players though.

Don't think many people like Nick Knight, probably because he's a ****. KP was tweeting about him last year IIRC

Just because Shiv is a world class batsman, it does not make him exempt from criticism...

Well actually I did watch the footage. If you've ever played cricket you might have some idea that it's in no way uncommon for someone to turn a ball like that and take one or two steps down the track. Fancy suggesting such a movement by a batsman obviates the need for a call. What a ridiculous comment. It exacerbates the need for a call. If Bravo calls then there's not run out, is there?
Pretty moronic post as usual from you. I don't like to blow my own trumpet but rest assured that not only have I played cricket but have done so at a representative level far higher than most on this board.

Chanderpaul set off; of that there is no doubt. He then stopped abruptly and returned to his crease, hanging his committed colleague out to dry. By setting off, he was saying "yes", not "maybe". If as you contend he was perfectly within his rights to do what he did then running in cricket is a complete lottery with no rules or protocol and anyone can abruptly engineer run outs of players they don't like at any time by committing to a run and then abruptly returning to their crease leaving their batting partner stranded.

When attempting to pinch sneaky singles, batsmen who are as used to batting together as Bravo and Chanderpaul must be by now having already registered six century partnerships in Tests between them often don't call, because doing so would rather defeat the object.

You might have worked that one out yourself by now, if you had two brain cells to rub together.

Yeah, couldn't agree more tbh.

i suppose the flip side is that if he doesn't take the single, and gets out next ball, I don't see him getting much praise for that. He batted with the tail like he usually bats, it worked out in the series against Australia, it didn't work out last night. It happens. Of all the things to criticise Shiv about, I don't really think the run-out or Edwards getting out are those things
Well then his job is not to get out. Nonetheless, given the way Broad was bowling to RHers at the time, it was surely his job to make sure he saw out the rest of the over without damage.

It's a small thing, but it's proof IMO of his bubble mentality.

EDIT: Well that was simple

I shan't get into a long slanging match with you as the game is about to start. Suffice to say this post is ********, and under 11s reps ain't worth a lot. Enjoy the day's play.

Was it grecian who said we should have bowled the final two balls yesterday? Looks like he had a point.

Quality from Broad in terms of figures.

I thought that if a wicket falls in the last over of the day's play, then that's considered end of play?
