I think it's a fair guess that most things qualify as unpredictable to Watson. Not saying he's an overcoached robot or anything...

Just to qualify, the comment was actually in regards to why Roach bowled into the wind most of the day, not the number of overs he bowled.

According to the Windies coach, the end was chosen by the bowler himself rather than the captain, although you'd assume given the bowler is so inexperienced, Gayle would have had some input in this case.

Roach did say he wanted to concentrate on his control in this match, after criticism came in about his speed comments. Maybe he felt that with the wind at back, on the WACA pitch, he would loose that control.

Perhaps, the must have been a reason. From what I understand, the spell where he got Watson out and hit Ponting was with the wind. If that's the case, presumably he'll stick to that tomorrow.

Katich is an idiot, Watson batted like a tank, loved his innings, Hussey needs to go on to a ton tomorrow, but still a tank innings by him. Punter got roughed up pretty bad, good **** from Roach. Want Punter to ton, but if we do, channel 9 commentary will suck his dick even more. Sounds good -.-.

I think the WI players know they are not in their strongest outfit in this test and would be happy just to put up a fight. If all should work out the series against SA should be very interesting.

Deonarine is a good player who has the ability to do a job. My bigger concern is Dowlin coming in, who I really have little faith in with the bat.
I'm a little worried that Deonarine somehow seems to have difficulty translating that talent to the highest level, while Dowlin seems to struggle with his limited gifts to score just enough to merit not being dropped....

Could it be a mental issue with Deonarine?

Is he? That's fair enough then. But I still think there has to be someone in the Carribean with more decent raw materials as a Test quick than Rampaul.
Yeah, Rampaul seems to lack a bit of the pace necessary to be successful in Test cricket, IMHO. I see him as a fixture in the ODI side, but he will probably struggle to hold down a place in the Test team....

Powell should never play again.
Well, when the strike was called against Bangladesh, the selectors called him to find out if he'd play....

But by then, he was already working on a contract to play for Lancashire, so he turned the WI selectors down, so, yes, he won't be playing for the Windies again.
But he will be turning out for the Red Rose over the next three years, or so....

Deonarine hasn't had much of a chance, has he? He hasn't played a Test for 4 years, since he was 22. And since then he's improved greatly as a batsman.

Yeah no doubt that Rampaul is quicker. He's not really quick enough to worry quality batsmen though. But personally (and bare in mind it is a personal opinion) I think that Sammy would be more complimentary to Roach than Rampaul is. Sammy isn't a world beater by any means but for some reason he seems to have a knack of picking up wickets from nowhere and potentially tie up an end, which I haven't seen Rampaul do as of yet.
Personally, I don't think either are good enough for Test cricket....
:)
I think Sammy, like rampaul, should stick to ODI cricket.

He was picked in the CT squad, I believe. But got injured and McLean came in.

Haha T_C can reference 'Test Match' every time with Watson and it'll always be funny.

That being said I love watching Watson bat, which hurts me even more cos I hate him so much.

Yeah, I'm pretty much in that camp too. Some of the shots yesterday were glorious. But, wow, doesn't he just give so much material to mock with.
