What a biased bunch of prat$ those commentators are :wallbash: , hawkeye clearly showed the ball was going over the stumps but oh no "it must be out even though it was going over", so Dougy's taken yet another clown off the crease. if i ever see Dowlin, Hinds, Morton etc in a WI shirt again i'll have snipers at the ground i swear i will  .

What an over. 6 6 and wicket. Bollinger just owns Gayle, dominates. Didint realize the cricket was at the G today. Drove past before and noticed 7 cars parked out the front. For all the tri series faults it was never this dire.

Gayle gone early AGAIN off of Bollinger, FOUR TIMES IN A ROW, if his captaincy of the side isn't questioned now then it never will be, the game is done now, i heard a rumour that David Williams won't be Gibson's assistant once this series is over and i hope that's true after this shambles, i know he's working with a bunch of clowns but their conduct today and been utterly appalling and he has to take responsibility for it too.

Now Deonarines gone!!. just go home WI your a disgrace.

This is getting ridiculous.

At least that's the last time we'll have to hear "Windies have a real chance if Gayle gets going...".

Oh wait, the Twenty20s....

This'll end our post-Allan Border Medal blues streak. Apparently, according to the radio, before today we'd lost the game after the Medal night four times in a row.

Called Smith to take a catch. :) Really hope he bowls well, ie high shoulder and a bit slower.

Slater: "bad ball, put away"
Nicholas: "What was bad about it? Really harsh to call it a bad ball"

*awkward silence*
That just happens in any sport. Most commentators simply comment based on results, rather than what leads to results. Simply becuase it is easier and actually leads to less dumb remarks. If you listen carefully to what commentators say, you really will hear A LOT of crap. Doesn't matter if it is cricket, football, speed skating or cycling.

Having said this, I know doing live commentary isn't easy.

Pretty stupid shot. Surely the toughest shot in cricket to clear the MCG square boundary. Good catch, hope Smith takes 5 cheap wickets.

Certainly couldn't be picked as one of the top 4 bowlers. What he could allow them to do is play him as the number 6 batsman who bowls a bit, let Bravo be picked as one of the best four bowlers and bat him at 7.

Seriously, which bowlers would you currently rather than Bravo? I'd say, from what I've seen, its only Edwards, Taylor and Roach. And as soon as one of those three aren't fit, then it suits the team.

Gayle
Barath
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Nash
Pollard
Bravo
Ramdin
Taylor
Edwards
Roach/Benn

Inevitably, fast bowlers get injuries. And I think that team looks better balanced. Maybe if all three quicks are fit, then it'd result in Pollard being pushed out.
Well, that's a promising line-up! However, I doubt Benn and Roach would have to fight for one spot. Let's forget Pollard for tests right now.

Maybe Pollard can, in time, get in the test side as a batsman and then his bowling is simply an extra. I'm a bit weary to judge his test batting abilities, right now. He is young and we cannot exclude the possibility he can grow into a proper batsman.

Was more commenting on the awkward bit...

Gold from Cricinfo today. Can't imagine it'd be much fun to be rapped on the flap (especially if we're talking women's cricket ).
Speaking of women's cricket, is anyone else excited about the match on Sunday being televised on Channel 9? First ever live women's game shown on free-to-air. Can't wait.

Don't mind watching the women's cricket. Find it a pretty different style of game to the men's. More innovative shot selection as most of them cannot clear the ropes. Find some of the medium pacers get some awesome swing too at the pace they bowl at. Not looking forward to the Ch9 commentary of the game though, can't put my finger on it, just think it will be cliche filled and display a real lack of knowledge.

Agree with all that; I'm quite a fan of the women's game, but I know some here aren't...

Not expecting much from the commentary, but Mel Jones knows her stuff, so there'll be at least one commentator who knows what they're talking about.
