Finch. WAC. Who the **** does he have dirt on. There's probably 20 better openers playing grade in Sydney.

Matt Prior ruled out of England's final Ashes warm-up | Sport | theguardian.com

Matt Prior has been ruled out of England's final Ashes warm-up match in Sydney with a calf muscle injury.

Scan results on Tuesday revealed Prior suffered a low-grade tear during last week's tour match against Australia A in Hobart.

He will be replaced by Jonny Bairstow for the four-day fixture against an Australian Invitational XI at the SCG from Wednesday.

But England batsman Ian Bell is confident the wicketkeeper will be fit for the opening Test at the Gabba in just 10 days time.

Hmm, I have a 9am exam on Friday, so when I knock that over in 20 minutes I'd probably be able to duck across to the SCG, catch the morning session and then head home.

Is Bairstow properly the next best option for England when it comes to Test match keeping, or is he the back-up in the squad simply because he makes it as a batsman as well? As in, if Prior was out for the whole series (which he obviously won't be), would someone else be flown over? And if so who?

It would probably be him or Steven Davies as the next best back up keeper, so yeah, I think he's predominantly been picked as a backup keeper for this tour, rather than a batsman who can keep.
