Fair play to SL. It's royally jizzed up my fantasy team tho, I'd been phasing out Sri Lankans because I'd assumed yer Saffies would make the final! :crybaby: :D

haha, Jason u have to eat ur words about Bandara! :D
Mate, I always thought the guy was good . I was only cautioning the guy who got carried away early on and wanted to build a statue for Bandara quite early on in the piece ....

So I thought cautious optimism was the order of the day then , but then Banda is showing what a great bowler he is .... and after 13 wickets and some match winning performances .. surely he is one of the players of the VB series along with Brett Lee Boeta Dipenaar, Andrew Symonds , Shaun Pollock.....and possibly Sangakkara.

With injuries and players fitness coming into question for SL, the SL Team management would be better off sending Vandort and Ganegama home and getting Chandana and Zoysa in as replacements - in case they run into injuries through the next 3 games and with a view to giving it their best shot , IMO.

ok i could flex with Dizzy not being selected back in the OD side but i better see his name in the test squad come mid March...

Bandara you absolute gun. Did my fantasy cricket team proud boosting me to 2nd on the VB Series standings. :D

Really happy SL made the finals, but quite annoyed I didn't put money on a Aus, SL then SA finish on the points table in that order. It was going at very good odds. Ah well.

But would you pick him as an opener for the next Test series against the number 1 ranked Team in the World after a lean summer in Tests and ODIs ?

I would pick smith as an opener for the next test, as it is an all new game, he will have plenty of time to fix his mistakes, and most importantly i think the home conditions would help him better..

He would also have his top guns back in the team, therefore the confidence would return back within the team and induviduals..

What has happened to Justin Kemp? Not too long ago, he took his team to a winning position in nearly every match, though mostly against England. Has he crashed down to earth? Surprisingly, he hasn't bowled a single over in this series, though he made his debut as a seam bowler in the team, and is a good fit as one.

He's injured - can only bat.

If I remember correctly, he hurt his shoulder during the Perth test match [the reason he missed the next two test matches I believe] and was unable to bowl during the ODI's.

Oh well, we deserved that, nice one SA.. Not sure about Dale Steyn, actually I am sure, don't think he can cut the mustard at international level..

I think the most worrying fact is that he hasn't improved, actually he may have in fact have gotten worse since the English tour of SA back in 2004/05. Now whether he is to blame, the trainers/coaches are to blame, or a mixture of both, its quite shocking. In particular his no-ball problem not being fixed in over 12 months is a disgrace.

Injured? No wonder he hasn't been himself so far. He would be a decent choice as a fourth or fifth seamer to hit the deck, wouldn't he?

Well played Sri Lanka esp. Bandara, he looks the mustard but why do the selectors keep playing Jehan Mubarak, his cannon folder.

He's young (22 or something), no real experience and quick.

IMO, he's worth persevering with.

Will this mean a change of Guard in SA Cricket ie..Smith being replaced by perhaps Pollock again or Kallis ?

No, they wont admit they made a HUGE mistake when they so readily disposed with Polly's services.. Kallis is not bright enough to be a captain.. Smith to stay for quite a while..

The best thing to do when touring Australia is not to panic when you get absolutely cremated, because Aussie tours usually do long term damage to peoples careers..

I can't see the point of sacking Smith. He looks as though he's got potential as a leader but he's still very much rough around the edges and learning his way.

You could arguably compare Smith to how Stephen Fleming started out but Smith has alot more talent and experience at his disposal than Fleming did so you might also expect South Africa to do alot better.
You can't forget either that South Africa had won 12 games on the trot not so long ago.
