At least van der Wath is playing some shots..it was a bit farcical with Rudolph & Prince blocking & nudging it around.

Another 4 and 6!

I love the fact that this guy batted 11 last game. If South Africa would properly make use of their long batting order (they've always had one from as far as I've followed cricket) they could be a real force in ODIs. But if their top order doesn't score well, or just plods, there's no point really. Same goes for NZ on occasions when they collapse and McCullum and Oram have to come to the crease with an almost impossible task (forget the fact that they did it against Australia though :p).

holy cr*p, if van der Wath had come in earlier and done the same thing, South Africa might have only need 30 runs off 15 balls and with the way he's hitting the ball, they would have been in with a decent chance.

What an absolute joke, maybe the one benifit eminating from this "match" is that it might shut Graham Smith up for a few seconds:@

The 30 odd balls that Rudolph and Prince mucked around with could potentially have put South Africa closer to the target had they found the gaps better.

Damn, Van Der Wath can hit. He's got under 25 career ODI runs and he's hit 3 sixes.
I've got some footage from Sussex TV! from last year's County Championship and he smacked Mick Lewis over cover for six just after getting his first half-ton for them. No mean feat against a guy of that speed.

Oh stuff you Rudolph, I want entertainment, not you fiddling around trying desperately to get a single. Augh.
Yeah, on numerous occasions he probabaly could've gotten off strike.

Australia's bowling at the death is not all that flash.

My squad of 13 for the finals:

1 Jacques
2 Gilchrist
3 Ponting
4 Martyn
5 Symonds
6 Clarke
7 Hussey
8 Hogg
9 Lee
10 Bracken
11 Tait
12 Watson
13 Clark

didn't see the last part but seems as if SA made some kind of effort in getting to the target. Looking at Australia's bowling obviously it wont be long until Clark is gone hopefully Dizzy & Tait are back in the squad soon.

yep its our only real weakness in OD cricket. But looking at that sqaud it would be mine as well but dunno if the selectors will replace Katich & Hopes, but hopefully Dorey is...

The thing about the Australian ODI bowling when McGrath isn't playing is, if Brett Lee does have a shocker, which he does do even when he's in top form and one of the best ODI bowlers in the world like he is now, they don't have the back-up bowlers that can consistently bowl tightly throughout the match, let alone take wickets.

Bracken hasn't done anything wrong and has been performing well during most of his opportunities in the ODI team, but he's not reliable enough to turn a match if McGrath isn't there and Lee is being hit at 7 an over. Hogg's serviceable, but Clark and Hopes don't cut the mustard as bowlers if you ask me. Not when the team is looking to score quick runs. I just think there's a gaping hole that will look much smaller if Gillespie is back in that team. And he should be at least in the squad and tried in a few matches. I just don't understand the selectors. Its fine trying out players like Clark and Lewis who have done well at the domestic level, but your proven performers should be given a shot as well if they've regained form.

If their batsman continue to kick butt almost every game these holes will be covered up. I mean the Australian top 7 is easily the best in the world IMO. When your 5,6 and 7 is Symonds, Clarke and Hussey you know your team is brilliant. But on the occasion that teams either bat first (see SL in Sydney) or the Australian batting doesn't produce the goods, the Australian bowling without McGrath is vulnerable. Even if McGrath isn't taking 5-fers his economic bowling is vital.
