Seriously though I am not sure if this has to do with his run of poor scores .mikeW said:
it doesnt just being rested.JASON said:Seriously though I am not sure if this has to do with his run of poor scores .
I hope Gilly's rest has not made a change to his batting form particularly against SL.
Look what happened to Sanath J.mikeW said:it doesnt just being rested.
Don't tell me that's the only change, and that Katich is still opening instead of Phil Jacques? How farcical. The world has gone mad.mikeW said:
JASON said:Taking the lead from the Aussies, I think SL should rest Sanath J against SA . I would also rest Mahela or Arnold with a view to playing the new Middle order batsman Chamara Kapugedera against SA.
drop arnold that guy is useless, and play either kapugedera or tharanga
Agree , he has not done anything in NZ or Australia, and when he has had a few overs to bat appears out of sorts or struggles to get on with the job at hand.Lostman said:drop arnold that guy is useless, and play either kapugedera or tharanga
Having watched him bat yesterday, I have to say his batting style of slogging/ lifting most over the infield is not suited when the Power Play is not there. He will get out much more easily either due to frustration at not being able to score off every ball or off most balls and particularly with his attacking style he will not suit the Middle order as he will end up getting out quite easily .Lostman said:i still think SJ will be better for srilnka in the long run if he bats in the middle order.
Batting in an ugly way doesn't matter. Stuart Clark has no facial expressions, but the selectors don't hold that against himArrow said:Can someone tell me why the selecters are so fond of katich when he averages a meagre 30 after 26 games??
Plus hes as ugly as all hell when he bats.
Hmm, the selectors are obviously picking like for like. Hodge did belt the New South Welshmen around the park in the Twenty20 final yesterday so they figure that he's worth having another chance.Linda said:Ponting is rested and they pick HODGE?! Where the hell is Jaques?! This is a joke... Put Katich at 3 for christs sake..
Well that'll cover the next 12-18 months, but then what...burkey_1988 said:If the selectors picked decent back-ups (Kasper, Gillespie, Bichel) then we wouldn't have that problem.
No, it's because he hasn't got a stupid nickname.Nnanden said:Bracken`s average of 17.6 at an economy of 3.4 in this series not good enough? Or is it his ODI bowling average of 22?
That's a fair point, but considering the selectors tried Lewis, and he is in fact older than Gillespie, it starts to lose significance...marc71178 said:Well that'll cover the next 12-18 months, but then what...
