It's terms of all-round fielding ability, Andrew Symonds has it all. He can field inside the circle and be brilliant and he can field on the boundary and pull of some insane saves & catches. Plus, he has one hell of an arm.

Dilshan has 1 good game and all of a sudden hes the 2nd best fielder in the world?
I thought he's looked excellent all summer, and even in the games against NZ before. He's definitely up there.

I have been watching him closely since the first NZ SRL game in Queenstown at the start of the year. He has certainly had more than one good game.

Ok, I know Andrew Symonds is the best there is but Dilshan deserves more credit than he gets.

He is better than Clarke and certainly better than Hussey.

Dilshan is one of the best, though mostly I've been struck by his ability to hit the stumps and not his ground fielding or catching.

One thing that I've really liked this summer is that Australia really have a wonderful -group- of fielders again. If it's not Symonds doing something amazing, it's Ponting, or Clarke, or Hussey, or Hogg, and there's rarely a weak link. Though Clark when he plays isn't much good.

You forgot John Buchanan.

Dilshan is amazing and its not just this VB Series, he's been doing it for a while now. Some of the saves he made during the NZ series was amazing. Symonds is better yes, because he can pretty much do it all, but I'd have Dilshan above Clarke. Clarke is a great ground fielder but he's dropped his fair share of catches too. Hussey has taken a few beauty catches but that doesn't make him better than Dilshan. How many run outs has he made? Then you have to look at the regular saves and dives they make. Only Symonds and Ponting from the Australian team are better than Dilshan IMO.

well i didn't see him in NZ, i only saw him in the VB series and he was excellent for sure. So for now i would still rate Symonds & Ponting ahead of him & maybe he is on par with Clarke..

You missed Mark Viduka, George Gregan, John Howard, Rolf Harris and Dame Edna...
Not to mention Big Kev (R.I.P but still a handy slipper) and Schapelle Corby.

They just COULDNT resist having a dig at England at the end there
I am surprised the Foxsports guys are trying to belittle the poor behaviour of the Aussie fans by trying to say Murali gets heckled all over the world, when this is definitely not true.

All over the world (I can personally testify with regard to England and NZ) he is not heckled or continuously harassed and humiliated like in Australia.

Quote Fox sports News item -
Despite his claims that Australian crowds are the worst in the world, he has been frequently heckled everywhere he plays.

England fans coined the chant "Throw, throw, throw the ball, gently down the seam, Murali, Murali, Murali, Murali chucks it like a dream".
There is a difference between the above song by the English fans and what he gets in Australia. The personal attack on Murali is generally quite vicious and humiliating as opposed to the good natured humour with which the English fans sing the above song or poke fun. Nor do they continue on , and on and on as it happens in Australia .
There is a marked difference and Murali does not get hounded in England or any where else like he does in Australia .

Terrible artice. It makes out that Australia are not worse than the rest when they are blatently the worst.

I went to the Wellington game in the Sri Lanka series and there was no abuse at all.
