Victorians seem fond of doing it as well.

NSW don't seem to do it as much... probably because they have a bloody test team as their first pick lineup anyway.

Don't hear a lot from QLD media so don't know about it.
We're just used to having the best of everything.

Don't know about Victoria, but it's so bizarre in WA. For example, in cricket, they'd tell the scores and provide an update on how North played too

Could be worse you could have a former county captain doing a national radio breakfast show constantly hyping up Bloopara.

I have stopped listening to Talk****e these days as Irani does my head in.Used to be fun listening to Alan Brazil but since he got paired with the confused Lancastrian it has gone downhill.

Fair point but even so - the fact remains that NSW by chance, skill, perceptiveness or scoop, have assembled a truly scary team for a domestic side.

I mean - drop Hughes or Smith for Ponting (who lives in Sydney nowadays anyway) and you basically have a perfectly justifiable Australian test batting lineup (even without Ponting it holds its own). It's just silly.

Feel really bad for Hauritz, when someone like Chappell comes out and says he sees potential in a bloke like Beer, who has virtually done nothing whatsoever.
If people like him get considered to play test cricket for Australia, then can't help but think, that it seriously devalues the baggy green....
Won't have been this shocked, had they even considered someone like Aaron Heal.

The Australian A team for the Hobart games next weekend will be named today

Would be shocked if all the following guys were not somewhere in the team:

Hughes
Ferguson
Khawaja
Smith
Paine
Starc
George
Doherty

You'd think so. I bet Cameron White or David Hussey captains them. O'Keefe might get a look? I daresay he's behind Smith in the pecking order though.

Just like to add that WA media always promote and talk up their own players. It's pretty funny actually when you watch TV there
Must be tough being a cricketer in WA; get your tyres pumped up at every opportunity but when you don't live up to the hype and someone 5 years younger comes along, you get thrown under a bus.

Is much the same here in QLD unfortunately. Makes it a bit meh when James Hopes is the only QLD squad player who may be in contention for a National team spot (although I doubt he has much chance now with Smith/Hastings getting more game-time)

Any real surprises there, aside from Marsh? Should be four or five more NSWmen, but you can't have everything I guess.

I like it. Pleasantly surprised, tbh. I wouldn't have picked Starc or Marsh (or Ferguson in all honesty) but they were always going to be there and they aren't prank-cricketers.

Bit disappointed Copeland isn't in for Starc or George...
No surprises in them picking Starc and George, thought he'd have been in there instead of Cameron though. Pleased to see that they picked O'Keefe and not Doherty, though.

Cowan the likely replacement for Marsh if he isn't fit?

Like the team, although a bit confused as to Cameron's selection ahead of Siddle/Copeland/Harris (although I'm assuming that siddle/harris may well be part of the 15 man test squad now)

Yeah I'd imagine it'd be Cowan or Klinger.

I actually think Cameron's near enough to being the best bowler in the country when he's fit. Despite having an extremely broken career where basically every game he's played has been either his comeback from injury or under an injury cloud, he's taken 56 First Class wickets @ 23.

I don't think he's actually moved ahead of Siddle or Harris in the pecking order though - the selectors know what they can do; I think they'd be considered part of the extended squad. Especially Siddle.

Yeah I don't see it at all that he's moved ahead of Siddle/Harris in the pecking order (or Starc & George for that matter). Just thought it may have been a good chance to give them a chance to get another FC game under their belt given they're both coming back from injury and they might have a part to play in the ashes in the event of an injury.
