Panesar grabs Clarke for 50. Shame for Clarke. It looked like he was more patient with his starts, building an innings.

Yeah, he must be injured or something. Every bowler other than Hoggard has bowled at least two spells, and Hoggard got one long one, so you'd imagine Mahmood would have bowled by now if he was going to today.
50 for Clarke incidentally. I doubt he'll be able to force his way into the test side at Brisbane, but if he keeps making runs and Watson doesn't have a particularly good start to the Ashes he may get back into the team later on.
Big innings for Henriques. Hasn't made any runs in the longer form for NSW yes, so hopefully he can get a few now and be there at stumps.

Just got back from the game, was pretty good, although it got a bit dull towards the end.
Harmison was pretty crap to begin with, while Hoggard started decently but got worse. Anderson was rubbish, but came back very well as his figures show, while Flintoff bowled well, beat the bat a few times. Giles' wickets were both due mainly to frustration from the batsmen, with Jaques holing out to Harmison at long off, and Pietersen catching Katich very nicely just on the ropes. I've no idea why Mahmood didn't bowl, must've been injured. I don't think he fielded for that long, but England kept bringing on and off substitute fielders so it all got a bit confusing.
Jaques batted very nicely though, no real chances until he got out. Katich really slowed down at the end of his innings and it really seemed just a matter of time till he got out, and Clarke was decent as well. By the way, anyone know why Smith is playing instead of Haddin? He's a pretty tubby bloke, but he hit a very nice six off Giles. From what I saw, Henriques was looking very comfortable against the new ball and played some great shots off Hoggy.
