Looks like it'll be a draw, but an interesting final day nonetheless. Watson made another unbeaten 60 odd during a collapse as the team went for quick runs, and Australia A declared leaving a target of 245 to win.

Mitchell Johnson has two wickets either side of tea, with Pakistan A at 2/65 from just 9 overs.
165 in 65 overs aren't quick runs.

I put it the wrong way, I think. The team didn't get quick runs in the end, but that was the obvious intention last night, given that the opening partnership went at about 5 an over. They slowed down today because of the constant loss of wickets.

Pakistan seem to have given up the chase now, after Watson got Rafatullah Mohmand for 40. It was 4/94 in the 15th over, now 4/104 after 21.

RP Singh now has 5 wickets from this match, including a few NZ prospects and regulars. His run of form provides the selectors one more option, although a Test recall isn't needed now. His bowling, along with Chawla's, has been a positive.

Can't be too positive about the batting, though. With nine batting options in the side, they lost 17 wickets in both innings. Badrinathan has had a good match, but he's not an India prospect, and the prospects, on the other hand, flopped again. Ultimately, the bowling has been good, but not so much the batting and the selection (7 batsmen, three frontline bowlers) leaves much to be desired.

Yeah the batting was definitely disappointing. I think they were resting Venu and Gambhir and giving the batsmen a shot to claim a spot in the Australia A encounter. Well, here's my lineup.

G Gambhir, S Dhawan, R Sharma, V Rao, S Badrinath, S Badrinath, P Patel, TP Singh, R Jadeja, P Chawla, RP Singh, Trivedi/Paul

Subramiam Badrinath - so good they picked him twice.

why is a guy who does well in the A team not an India prospect?

Well Dhawan and Sharma are considered the gems in the squad and Badrinath isn't quite as hyped, but that's not very fair for SB. I'm not sure how good Badrinath's technique is and we might not need him as much as a reserve opener right now (Gambhir, Uhappa, Dhawan), but if he does well he's a prospect. He's not very young but he's only 25.

Jacques and Rogers start well for the Aussies. Top teams in the tournament here, IMO. Should be interesting. I would've preferred Jadeja to a seamer for his batting and spin threat.

Australia bring in Sean Marsh for Hodge, and Brett Dorey for Cullen Bailey.

Currently 2/183 after 51 overs, despite losing Rogers and Cosgrove in quick succession. Jaques unbeaten on 111 and Birt on 2.

Jaques ends the day on 199.

Poor *******.
Haha I know. All the same, a test spot can't be far off for him, even if it's in the middle order-- if they're willing to do it for Hussey, surely they'd be willing to bat Jaques down the order (if he is as well). Anyway, Australia A end on 2/361, with Birt on 82*. Hopefully Watson will get a bat tomorrow and hit another decent score, cause I'd like to see him in the squad (definitely over Symonds).
