Bloke can seriously play. He's obviously not as good against spin but he really has some fight about him.Surprised Stokes has lasted this long. He is normally all at sea against any kind of spin.
We only turn up to watch a contest mate.Massive crowd of 19k. Well done Aussies, that means you got at least 12,000 people in there.
I'm a cricket nut and have basically travelled to England and India to watch test matches... but even I'd say "nah **** it I'll watch on TV" when its 43 degrees.Massive crowd of 19k. Well done Aussies, that means you got at least 12,000 people in there.

Exactly. Most of the WACA is open roofed as well. **** that.I'm a cricket nut and have basically travelled to England and India to watch test matches... but even I'd say "nah **** it I'll watch on TV" when its 43 degrees.
Did you watch a ball of today's play? He's gone from fearsome mongrel to the smiling clown and the English batsmen all look very comfortable playing him all of a sudden.
Are you serious? Johnson wasn't perfect today, but he built an enormous amount of pressure on Englands batsman, particularly Pietersen which allowed Siddle etc. to knock them over.We definitely won the day. A much better bowling performance in the morning to knock the Aussies over for less than 400 and then our batsmen really stood up to the challenge.
A couple of days ago I was mocked for suggesting Adelaide pointed to Mitchell Johnson returning to previous Ashes form. Well that story has continued here without a wicket to his name. He's gone from fearsome mongrel to the smiling clown and the English batsmen all look very comfortable playing him all of a sudden. We need to keep the pressure on him because he's not a very confident lad and the more he struggles the quicker his world (and bowling) falls apart.
Bell, Prior, Broad and Bresnan are all capable of adding healthy runs to the score. And Stokes is combative enough to hand around for a session or two. We should aim for 400-450 and then go hard at the Aussies on a deteriorating wicket into Day 4.
This series is very much still alive. I'm confident the Aussies won't win here. It'll be an England win or draw and onto Melbourne.

Yeah, that's it. You need the swing to really dominate in Perth because it's just a superb place to bat. Knocking over the first 4 of a 5-out-all-out English team is serious inroads.Really, I don't get why everyone is so obsessed with this whole Johnson-not-taking-a-wicket-since-Cook-at-Adelaide thing. It's Test cricket, you'll go periods without taking wickets (and he easily could have had a few today had some of those edges not dropped short somehow), especially if the bats are quite clearly making a special effort not to get out to you. The important thing is that he's consistently threatening and keeping the pressure on. We don't need him to be a wrecking ball to be effective in every innings.
Short of bowling the vicious inswingers of three years ago I don't think we could reasonably expect him to have bowled better than he did today.
Exactly. Johnson isn't the type to take 5'ers every single time he bowls, he's a momentum bowler and tends to take wickets in bunches. As long as he's building pressure and softening up the batsman for Harris, Siddle and Lyon and bowling accurately, he's indispensable.Really, I don't get why everyone is so obsessed with this whole Johnson-not-taking-a-wicket-since-Cook-at-Adelaide thing. I'm just glad the players aren't thinking like some of the "supporters" on here and Twitter.Spoken like a true Tranmere Rovers supporter
I agree we had a better day, but I still think we're dead and gone - but at least the corpse is twitching and there is no rigormortis .............................. yet
