Atrocious over rate. An appropriate punishment would be for Cook to keep playing.
The wicket's playing very truly and we've given away 3 wickets (at least Clarke could claim to be beaten in flight though)...there's a huge chance to put a heap of runs on the board and put more pressure on, and we're relying on the next bloke in to do it. If we reach 400, no worries, but if we don't then it will look pretty silly. How negative are Spark and Son of Coco. Anxious mother ****ers the both of you.
Clarke tried to get on top of Swann, was aggressive with his footwork and didn't execute properly. Not the end of the world. It's just ****ing dumb though. England have barely bowled two decent overs in a row and they have three wickets.
Did Prior just tell Smith he's one game away from getting dropped?

But fair chat imo.
I actually think it'd probably have more impact from coming from Prior as is. It's the sort of thing you hear all the time as a batsman and just tune out, but hearing it from Prior could take your mind off the game a bit because it's such a hypocritical call that you'd mentally react to it. Sledging isn't so much about winning the verbal battle as it is distracting the opposition. It would be a good call if it came from someone who wasn't one game away from being dropped.
Perth is the arse end of the world tbf.Clarke tried to get on top of Swann, was aggressive with his footwork and didn't execute properly. Not the end of the world.
He probably is, but if I had to choose someone to at least make a run before they got out at the moment I'd go with Smith.Yeah, as I said "in before people moan at it being rich" but Prior's miles away from being dropped despite what people think IMO.
I'm not so sure about that. I think most players would laugh if a bloke who isn't performing questioned their ability. Generally the less credibility the call has, the easier it is to ignore,I actually think it'd probably have more impact from coming from Prior as is. Yeah, I doubt it. I think they'll stick with him for a while. Hopefully he makes runs todayIs Smith really that close to be dropped though? Averaging more for the year than Watson and basically identical since the start of the England Ashes. Plus Bailey's hardly asserted himself ffs.
I think the media will probably think he's closer than what he is in reality, because the Australian media don't pay nearly as much attention to overseas Tests. He still hasn't scored any runs at home so the media and especially the mid-level fans will be on his back if he doesn't get any here, particularly given his not-quite-eradicated reputation as a spinner batting way too high. I don't think the selectors are particularly close to dropping him though. Is Smith really that close to be dropped though?
Where does that leave Geelong?Perth is the arse end of the world tbf.
250 should do it. Pitch to get harder tomorrow.260 enough you'd have thought.
I'll honestly be downbeat if we don't take 7 wickets in this next session.
