Anyway, Mitchell Johnson.

Top scorer with the bat and 6/38 with the ball. Astonishing what a one-match stint on the sidelines can do.

Agree with social that some of Australia's top-order batsmen will have a lot of uncomfortable questions to answer if they fail to capitalize on this position.

That's what we thought at Adelaide.....

Watson and Hughes need runs in the next session. Or Ponting can finally score some runs.
Still in Adelaide we managed 304 second innings...I'd take that happily now. That would give them a chase of almost 400.

Assume you don't like it when Batsmen do it after a ton then? (not being smart, genuine question)
I don't like over-exuberant century celebrations TBF (Gilchrist, Ganguly). Depends a lot also on the match situation at the time.

Wow, was hopeful but didn't expect that early on this morning when the innings started. Great effort by Johnson, an improved effort from Australia.

Good to see Bell go just after 50 too...and a good effort to wrap up the tail.

Have a bad feeling Hughes will go very cheaply again...He just hasn't got much rhythm at the moment.

As said before, England should take solace from this match at the ground two years ago. Mitch ran through the Saffies, we set them a good score and they knocked it off without too much trouble.

Aus will pile on the runs.
You'd have thought so: huge difference batting after a day like today. Big psychological test for England's bowlers now - and a big lesson about shutting tfu and getting on with the game.

Day 1 sessions 2 & 3 were the key though. If we'd done our job properly then, we'd have been almost level by close of play yesterday and this simply wouldn't have happened. Flower must have wanted to chin some of the bowlers yesterday - and the captain for presiding over some seriously sloppy cricket. It's probably cost us the game.

The pitch was much more flatter and the ball wasn't swinging when that happened though.

Hilfenhaus looked a bit innocuous but you have to give him a some credit for keeping the pressure on when Bell and Prior/Swann were batting, kept it pretty tight overall. Needs to use the crease a bit more though to offer a consistent wicket-taking threat, as Chappell pointed out.
