TBF a spinner's always a chance out of the rough on days 4 and 5. Look at Hauritz to Flintoff (still very little said about his hitting it to slip and waiting btw).
Just waiting for the umpire's decision, as is his right. Any Aussie who does it trying to defraud the umpire into giving them not. Simple as.

I thought Flintoff stood his ground more due to disbelief at what the ball did and what he did, rather than waiting for a confirmation from the umpire. My views were corroborated by the then commentators also.

I'm sure you're right. Just wondering whether the same courtesy would be extended to, say, Michael Clarke.

Feel free to quote this and change it to say "England England England Freddie  GnR" or such like, but I genuinely thought that that was all Freddie was doing as well. It never even occurred to me that he 'wasn't walking' as such, then I read this thread last night.

I honestly wouldn't have given an Aussie bat any grief for doing the same, personally.

Forecast looking good. Am hyped, couldn't sleep so hence I'm up. Pretty sure it's because of the cricket that I couldn't sleep, I was dreaming about Nathan Hauritz

Radio getting all excited this morning... "This could be our Adelaide".

Can't believe I'm at work and I'm not going to see a thing. :(

Really, really disappointed in myself for reading all of the last twenty-odd pages of this thread. Terrible stuff all round.

Haha Marto on fire this series.

You were right on Flintoff as well. Point isn't criticisng him but rather the reactions to the respective dismissals.

four_or_six, tell them you have swine flu. They can't keep you there and risk everyone else getting infected.

A moot point. Not helped by his own capers involving claiming catches those weren't etc.
Strauss claimed catch at Lord's which most of us Aussie fans thought wasn't clean, but none of the hue and cry that Clarke' claimed catch evoked was to be seen in Strauss' case.

What can I do for the fact that Indian fans are erm.. easily outraged?

According to the Beeb:

BBC Weather | Birmingham

No sign of rain until after the scheduled close, so as long as there has been no rain overnight (which I haven't checked, hasn't been any round here though) then we should be good for an 11 start.

Just for the record, don't know if any of you are superstitious, but the last time I got up this early to watch the cricket on telly (in England) was day 4 of Edgbaston four years ago. Woke up with a filthy hangover, watched the Premier League years whilst shaking with nerves and apprehension. Feeling similar here. Mates coming round at 11, can't wait for today.

Is there no chance you could just ask for the afternoon off? Gutted for ya :(
No, I need to be here anyway. Times like this you need a boss who's cricket mad. :)

Anyway, it's not so bad... I will just have to turn my persuasive powers to getting the radio onto TMS instead of radio 1.
