I just read that Simon Taufel will be standing in the Super Test with Rudi Koertzen. I guess it's impossible to assure "neutral" umpires in such a contest. :o
some bowlers more then othersDeja moo said:yeah, it seemed a good idea. Although time consuming considering that bowlers would then appeal for just about anything.
Less of that please, it has no place here.Woody_cloudofsm said:did u know that saryl hair is openly a homosexual, he does as well with women as he does as an umpire
I dunno how much this would be a factor though - the umpires are the ones in control of whether they refer to the third umpire for assistance. If players want to use it as a deliberate time-wasting measure, it ought to be as actionable as it would be without the technology.Deja moo said:yeah, it seemed a good idea. If you're going to do that you might as well do away with Field umpires completely.shounak said:Just allow the 3rd Umpire to overrule the Field umps at all times I think. We've got the technology, why not use it..
If umpires didn't have to look down then up again so quickly, I doubt we'd see the outside leg thing as a problem.greg said:I think it was pretty useless for determining height though. It obviously could avoid glaring mistakes, but then of all the things which umpires should be able to avoid, glaring errors on height should be the easiest. (the big error, for example, on the Katich dismissal was where it pitched, the fact that Hawkeye showed it to be going over the top (but not by much) just added to the sense that it was a terrible decision)
Good to see players who should have been there anyway IMO finally making it!Jono said:Inzy has been added to the test squad whilst Gayle and Dravid are now in the ODI squds.
Umpires have to look at the bowler's feet to see where he is delivering the ball from (ie. wide of the crease or close to the stumps).marc71178 said:If umpires didn't have to look down then up again so quickly, I doubt we'd see the outside leg thing as a problem.
Yeah you will keep implying/stating Tendulkar should never have been there. Your fantasy has come true. Rejoice!marc71178 said:Good to see players who should have been there anyway IMO finally making it!
Well I'm not sure about that.marc71178 said:Not really, because they can follow the ball's path, which will indicate where it's come from.
The only reason to watch the feet is to pick up on no balls.
When was the last time you saw a back-foot noball called?greg said:Also when it was used the technology was also only set up for front foot noballs (they used the "runout" side on cameras". The onfield umpire still had to call the back foot ones i think.
There are back foot no balls!??Slow Love™ said:When was the last time you saw a back-foot noball called?
Not very often, unfortunately. Warne was bowling them all the time in the AshesSlow Love™ said:When was the last time you saw a back-foot noball called?
For once I agree with a statement you've made, that also had the word Martyn mentioned in itLinda said:No Martyn, No Tendulkar.... prft, what a farce.
