Hmmm, so now that Oram's banked a place for himself come game one (not like he wasn't already a lock) what will the team look like? He can't play at six so it's either McKay or Southee gone imo.

Might be Patel/McCullum gone. Get the feeling it'll be McKay though.

I'm a bit confused about N McCullum. He's listed in the squad but he hasn't played ANY of the 5 warm up games.

So, yes, the team looks like...

Watling
Guptill
Taylor
Williamson
Styris
Elliot
Oram
Hopkins
Mills
Patel
McKay

12th Man - Southee

That team has 6 bowlers (elliot hasn't bowled in the warm ups so presume his knee is still giving him trouble)

Surely be better for Watling to keep and include Southee. But I think you'll find that Hopkins will be in the team pretty permanantly now.

Well Jeets has done alright in the warmups, very curious IMO I thought he would be out of the ODI setup for a long time. Did his confidence miraculously comeback?

Another good performance from NZ. Very good build up. With no injuries...
As far as we know. I'm wondering why Oram didn't bowl at all. I suppose we didn't need him to, but it would have been nice to see him get some practice with a tidy over or two.

Only if no Vettori IMO. Don't understand how he got so far ahead of Nath Mac in the pecking order TBH. Wasn't a big fan of Nathan's, but thought he bowled well for NZ last season, and his batting is very handy as well.

Finally found out why no Nath Mac in any of the warm up games...

All-rounder Nathan McCullum arrived only yesterday after the birth of his child, and will not be considered until Friday's match against Sri Lanka.

Apparently Watling has a nasty stomach problem and they are giving him until the last minute, otherwise Pinga is playing.

India are going to smash NZ tomorrow. It's going to be a belting.

[/ lame attempt to get some nice banter going] :)

Personally reckon an Ind vs. SL final would be the best result. Would be quite unpredictable

I actually think that this competition could be decided by who bats under lights.

Hate it when it comes down to that.

If the team is good enough it won't matter.
Hmmmmmmmm... Not really - imagine if NZ for instance got 250, and then IND had to chase it under lights, and the ball started hooping around, and they ended up 40/6 or something like that. Not really fair on India in that instance.

Sounds like the toss will be all important.

I hope NZ plays McKay. I'd love to see him given a go in seamer friendly conditions. Personally, I'd drop Elliot and play Tuffey, Mills and McKay. On paper NZ would have a weak batting lineup, but Elliot has done nothing with the bat in the warm-ups, and Tuffey and Mills could almost be classed as all rounders in ODI cricket.

Don't like these day night games in Srilanka where toss decides atleast 75 % of the matches,if not more.
