Why does it seem like umpires are always looking for a way to give those ones out?
‘On the line is out’ and ‘benefit of the doubt goes to the batsman’ are two separate concepts but the application of the first always seems to confuse umpires’ application of the second.

Is it just me or do they seem much keener to give batsmen out run out than stumped in these sort of situations?
I've always suspected it's probably just me because I like stumpings and hate run outs, but maybe not.
