Can only improve from here that is for sure.not a red letter test match for bowling, this one.
It's not that terrible an attack. When fit Kumara is a brilliant quick bowlerOh yeah I don't disagree with that, Sri Lanka in particular were disgraceful when they toured here. But I do wonder how the other Asian sides would do in South Africa now.
Also that bowling attack looks disgraceful from Sri Lanka.
I'm with you on Bavuma as he has often scored runs in tricky situations for South Africa, but what counts against him is the lack of big scores, and the longer he goes without them the harder it is to overlook. He did have to do a bit of a rescue act today as South Africa were wobbling a little when he came in, still being almost 200 runs adrift, but now he's got a perfect opportunity to cash in.Bavuma actually going big for once would be very handy. Be good to see him do it, I've defended him before as "better than his stats look" but it's hard to argue around the fact he's only got one century to date.
losing two has to be pretty rare though. While it is not nice to see, Sri Lanka arent the first side to lose a bowler to injury during the game, unfortunately it happens
I always think back to that time he tried ducking a length ball from Broad and got bowled. One of the most munted things I've seen.Meanwhile, I'm sort of vaguely aware Bavuma is short (it's maybe the third or fourth thing I have in my spartan mental rolodex on him behind "South African", "batsman" and "black") but somehow his sheer lack of inches always manages to surprise me when he's standing next to someone of more regular dimensions.
Almost two years ago: https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/1144154.htmlI don't want to jinx him, but when did Faf last score a test 100?
From memory Allan Lamb never got a particularly huge score? Was thinking there can't be many chaps who have more centuries than Faf without a 150, but there's a chap with 14 tons and no 150s.
Spotters points if you can name him.
