***Official** Sri Lanka in New Zealand

Does anyone think this series will go the way of India's tour of NZ four years ago? With no totals over 250 in the series?

It shouldn't, the pitches are much better so hopefully the batsmen will improve over the course of the series. Not that the series has much of a course to improve over, having just two tests and all.

There seem to be a lot of complaints about Prasanna's batting, but how was his wicketkeeping? Hopefully he's doing a good job there behind the stumps, because they can't have Sangakkara keeping and batting for long hours too often. That said, Maharoof and Vaas are not contributing enough with the bat, which is an even bigger area of concern than Prasanna's batting (or the lack of it).

Sri Lankans seem disinterested and are probably a bit blase about touring here now. Most of the senior, established players see it as a bit of a holiday I reckon. They can always fall back on the conditions as an excuse for failing. I think the blatantly biased preparation of green-tops in New Zealand has now gone on for long enough and is becoming a bit embarassing (although we wouldn't be the only offenders in that respect). A fit and firing Shane Bond is one of the most potent weapons in world cricket and can knock the top off any batting order. I'm expecting us to absolutely kill Sri Lanka in every match of this tour due to these factors.

Ah, but I'm going to the 4th ODI. The last (and in fact only) win I saw was in January 1997, a two-run triumph over the might of Zimbabwe, and I've witnessed 14 losses since.

So it'll be 4-1 at best.

I love Sanga, Murali and Bond. Honestly what champions.

Hopefully Sanga can slap a few runs and give Murali something to defend.

Pitch is fine by the way Chaminda, great test match wicket. Love watching test cricket in NZ, even if no one in NZ does :p

I apologise to James and Pete for 'advertising' the highlights, as they call it. i thought it was ok since i didn't give the links in CW.

as u all can see SL will be test champions in 2035. I'm proud the way our batsmen are handling the NZ fast bowlers.

Lol. The conditions aren't too good for batting, but SL have been pathetic with the bat also.

Horrible game to watch IMO. It is the first time i've seen the Lankans play since 2003 though, so at last I get something out of it. Plus some of the shots Sanga has played, awesome.

Dunno why. There's always something dismal about matches in NZ, even when the sun's out.

Can someone please tell me why the selectors chose a crap wicket keeper that can't bat, and didn't utilise Sangakkara's great expirience with keeping against Murali, and standing up to Vaas?

They thought wicket-keeping was putting to much stress on Sangakarras batting which they see as a main role for him as a member of the Sri Lankan team.

Generally because no one is in the stand so there's crap all atmosphere.

But I like seeing the wickets do something, NZ generally has that.

Out of all the countries in the world, my favorite place is NZ for some reason. The grounds are beautiful (it doesn't bother me whether there is nobody there), and the scenery around the grounds are great.

Sangakkara is one of the most underated players out there. I think he is as just as good as Hussey, and on the same level as Strauss and Laxman.

Laxman is way overrated on these forums.

And yes, Sangakarra is underrated.
