Following the cricinfo commentary from work it's like SL have been grinding hard all test, survived a really tough spell from Wagner and McCullum wasting both of our reviews, and then suddenly changed tack and started swinging for the fences, going 8 an over and losing wickets all over the place. Ah well, I'll take it.

After Chandiguns and Mathews got out they didn't really have much hope, particularly against the 2nd new ball. SL have a great batsman in Mathews, a pretty top class one in Chandimal, a solid one in Karurumon and then 4 players possibly a little under true Test calibre.

The tail, despite the first innings performance are pretty spuddy for the most part.

I'll admit the taste on Karunaratne, ftr. He's still not great, but he's Test quality and by far the best option SL have. Not a spud.

Congrats to NZ and their fans. Good win.

Wagner is such a fun cricketer. Will fill my Mitch Johnson void.

So it seems likely that Santner's secured his place for the remainder of the summer anyway. What do we think about the potential makeup of the side going forwards? Keeping going with the 4 specialist quicks, or bring back Anderson/Neesham to shore up the batting once they're fit?

Depends. Anderson could definitely come in for doug, but I'm not sure if I trust Jimmy's bowling enough yet. Needs to develop a delivery to threaten the outside edge imo.

Depends how Bracewell bats IMO, I'd have Anderson/Neesham/Bracewell all competing for the same spot, do we need a batsman who can bowl or a bowler that can bat?

I honestly think we're strong with any of those guys, if Santa can come out of the Australian visit looking economical and Boult's fitness improves, I think it'd be fair to say this is the strongest NZ side of all-time.

Way more excited for the limited overs matches. Mainly because of Milne and heavier/louder crowds. Hopefully Lockie Ferg, Nutall or Duffy get called up for a shot as well. Give Southee a rest for those...he's deserved it and needs a rest for the Aussie series.
