Oh my Dravid you absolute champion! YES! *pumps fist*

Great century but unfortunately I don't think 285 will be enough
on this ground and with the inexperienced bowling attack we have.
We needed more out of Sehwag/Dhoni/Yuvraj.

Would love to be proved wrong though !!

Dhoni's golden duck is a shame, but he's done enough this tour. Sehwag has gotten starts and thrown them away which annoys me more and more as every game passes, he can't buy a 50 right now. Yuvraj on the other hand... well I think its just about game over for him. He should be dropped for Kaif for the last 2 games so he can get a kick up the backside realising he's throwing away his talent.

Perhaps India could consider shifting Sehwag down the order.

Definitely, it must happen now.

Gambhir to open? But then who does he come in for, because Kaif must come in. Its a tricky situation.

No because then he'd have to take over a player that hasn't been out yet, i.e a bowler. That means we are a bowler short in the 2nd innings.

Yadav is a super-sub because he can do both, bat and bowl. So if we batted first he will be subbed on for a batsman who doesn't bowl at all, and if we had to bowl first he could have been subbed on to replace one of the bowlers and add the extra batsman. He's a good super-sub in my opinion, better than choosing batsman or bowler because than the toss is vital.
Oh I have no doubt about the supersub selection, it's just that I didn't see any wisdom in having Agarkar, Kartik & Singh batting in last 10 overs.

And I am not too sure about the first part of your post..Didn't Mahroof replace Zoysa who had already bowled 5 overs in the game (unless it something like the Mahroof could bowl only 5 overs since the guy he super-subed had already bowled 5 overs..)

That's exactly right. The sub can only bowl what the player subbed off hasn't bowled.

Kaif must come in for Yuvraj, Gambhir should stay in the ODI team. :p

Yeah but only as a super sub :P

* If we are batting first then he should immidiately supersub Sehwag(we wont need Sehwag's 25 runs)

* If we are fielding first, he should supersub Agarkar. ;)

Great chance for Sri Lanka to pul one back. If they cant do it today against this inexperienced attack, well....

I know you're kidding but  anyway :p
I do think Gambhir should stay in the team and open with SRT. Sehwag should be moved to no. 5 or anywhere else and may be Kaif should wait (along with Sourav & Yuvraj ) for some of the newcomers to fail consistently in this series which is highly unlikely ;)

Also since Ganguly is out of the team(assuming in Tests as well), it is possible that Kaif is going to be a regular in the test team.

I dont see why it should be such a problem to have three batsman who can open in the side. We never had a problem playing Sehwag, Sachin and Saurav in a 100 odd games.

Sehwag could come in at three and Kaif at five after Dravid.

Grat options for India and an eye opener for the selectors who refused to enforce this before.

Here is an Indian side without Laxman(1), Ganguly(2), Kaif(3), Kumble(4), Zaheer(5), Nehra(6) and with no contribtions from Yuvraj(7) and nothing much from Sehwag(8) and we still havent missed that !!

Wow !!

At least we should accept now that we dont have to keep waiting for the players out of form to come back and keep playing him till he does, if he does.

Lets learn that the Indian way of doing things wasnt the best and the most effective.

I dont know if we will get anywhere near winning the WC 2007( we dont have anything like the bowling required to do that yet) but I am really excited about the big change (in the way we do things) thats taking place right before us.

Who says we did not need a foreigner ? We needed him just because the best Indian coach would have continued with the same mind set of status-quo-ism.

ARGH! Sangakkara dropped by Gambhir off VR Singh's bowling. Singh was still yet to give a run away.

Damn it!

Kaif must come back into the team, he's been too good this season. Selection has become a problem (who would have thought we'd have so many deserving players in the ODI team? :D), but you can not keep Kaif out because he's still young too. He's vital to the Indian team.

And Kaif better get a test spot. If Yuvraj gets it again it'll be an absolute disgrace.

Gone !

Sri Lanka insist on doing in the case of Jayasuriya what India kept doing with Ganguly. And he is gone. Good catch by Venugopal.
