Bad Light is a safety concern. What if the ball leaps up at a batsman and he couldn't see it, or if a ball is hammered at a fielder and he picks it late.

Safety of the cricketers takes precedence over all.
absolutely agree where grounds don't have floodlights but where they do, whats the issue? A lot of ODI games played around the world now are day nights and there have also been day night tests so I cant see why the spectator loses out?

Red ball is hard to use under bad lighting. If you've ever tried to play with it on a dimly lit day or under lights, you'd understand.

It's why we need the Pink Ball for day/night Tests.

trust me mate, I play cricket in England so am well used to playing with a red ball in poor light conditions lol -again accepted but then why not continue with a pink ball?surely some play is better than no play

again, true and accepted but then why not continue with a pink ball? surely its got to be better than no cricket at all?
If day night tests become more common rather than the experiments that they are looked at as now, I think this could very well happen.

TBH I'd be happy if we stopped using the red ball all together. I don't really see the point of it ATM. The pink ball is so much easier to see both in the day and in the night, and if it works and lasts as long as the red one, then really the only thing stopping us is tradition.

****...

Why did we think it was a good idea to prepare a seam-friendly pitch at home

I think 17/3 with Ashwin to come in next is time to panic already.
