***Official*** Sri Lanka in England

Lostman

State Captain
he is a lazy bum will play good in the 1st game to get back his place in the side, after that it will be back to his usual ways. lazy fielder, lazy bowler and even worse batsmen.

And there is nothing that can be done to change that attitude?

I reckon we'll win 3-0, or maybe 2-0 if rain gets one of them, which in May would not exactly be a shock. Well, it's never a shock in England when it rains is it? 8-)

One-dayers, I've not watched a lot of Sri Lanka in ODIs of late, I did see some of their VB series games, i think it'll be close, because both sides are pretty inconsistent

he made his debut in 1998, as a 18 year old and that attitude has stuck with him. The sad thing is he is really talented as well. Dont be surprised if he does good in the in the 1st game though, he always does after he is brought back into the side.

I was thinking of 0-2 loss for Sri lanka counting that the rain will at least wash away some part of a test8-) , but after watching Asif bowl us out in 1 session in Sri lanka, SL are have no chance 3-0 for england. If we manage to draw 1 test i will be really happy.

I'll be amazed if SL win a Test in early season England.
Mind you, you'd have been amazed if England won the Ashes or if England drew in India with that side...

It depends. They could easily have won at Lord's in 2002.
No more can we simply assume that (relatively) early-season England will invariably assist seam and swing.

Surely a really good coach can change even a very long-standing attitude?
I mean, look at Shoaib Akhtar (here's hoping we're not mistaken in that he's experienced a change of attitude under Bob).

The only way that SL stand even the slightest chance of victory is if Murali is on fire and we do an oh so predictable batting collapse.

Otherwise 3-0 seems realistic to me. They have no stand out batsman of any real class other than perhaps Sangakkara.

How in the blue blazes is Atapattu (whether or not he's fit to play) not a batsman of any class?
Atapattu is capable of playing some of the most immovable innings you'll ever see.
Not to mention that Jayawardene is always a decent bet if the pitch isn't seaming or turning.
Dilshan can sometimes play, too.

I would agree with you but with SL batting being brittle especially in the conditions in England in early MAY I would say even if there was any rain intervention, that should still not prevent England taking them out for a White wash !!:)

3-0 to England in Tests

3-2 to England in ODIs - even in ODIs I would expect SL to be thrashed this summer, particularly if as I suspect England play their likely World Cup squad and not the triallists as they are doing in India ATM.

it will be 3-0 and 5-0 to england. the only chance sri lanka have to win a ODI game is on the back of Jayasuriya brilliance. Murali gone of the bail, he will be effective, but not good enough to win Sri Lanka a Test Match or ODI.

I meant who were likely to play. Therefore I excluded Atapattu.

Jayawardene is alright, but nothing special. Dilshan is awful.
