I don't think these two particularly care about RR tbh.
Yeah, both very much occupiers.

Re Jimmy's replacement, Finn is the next in line, but quite similar to Tremmers & Broad, so wouldn't be massively shocked if we looked at Dernbach or Onions.

Where's the second test?

Surely you'd expect them to do better than that against... borrowing Niel Pickup' words "13 yr olds trying to bowl quick"??
No. They haven't bowled long hops, and that's what these two feed on. They don't chase the ball, at all.

Another observation: on the evidence of that slide tackle, Rangana Herath's fielding could rapidly attain cult status. What is it about left-arm spinners?
Well, Gary Sobers could bowl left-arm spin as well! Vettori isn't the worst fielder either.

But a fine observation other than that. Bishen Bedi, Giles (gully catching apart), Panesar, Pragyan Ojha and Paul Harris weren't exactly greyhounds in the field. A rather spooky coincidence indeed!

Tbf the seamer's continually bowling 2 feet outside off, very defensive bowling, especially when they've got runs on the board.

3rd June iirc. Back to back with this test.

I saw that, but they are doing it to Trott as a tactic. They are bowling to their field, they are bowling much straighter to Cook.

To give Punter his due, I never really understood how he managed to set fields for Johnson or even Hilfy without wanting to rip their heads off after a session..

The beehive suggests it's been rather disciplined bowling... nothing on the leg stump....
Exactly. Everything straight has been worked for runs, and they've bowled a lot of harmless crap well outside off that has been rightly left alone.

Disciplined =/= good, against these two, if it's just wide bowling. You can bowl a metre outside off all day, you won't get hit for many runs but you won't get them out, either.

Has Herath got fatter since he was fitted for his shirt or did he deliberately go for one that makes him look like he's got bitch ****?

These two would make your average monk look like an impatient five-year old waiting to open a birthday present.

wouldn't say that exactly crap... it rather denotes inability or lack of confidence on the part of batters to put bat to anything a cm outside off stump...

this is first innings... not 2nd where they are hanging on for dear life...

Like I said before, with runs on the board ,you'd want to attack the stumps a bit more, you might go for runs but you also might get wickets, I suppose it depends which way you look at it.

Nah, it's just classic test match batting. Ignore the match situation, play each ball on its merits. Make them bowl at you.

Served them well down here.
