**Official** Sri Lanka in England / Scotland - 2011

Big seam movement there from Broad cutting back sharply and rattling Maharoof on his pads right in front. Good change from Strauss and good start from Broad. Good day so far for England, in terms of picking up wickets, still plenty of inconsistency in lines. Important we get through the tail though.

Does anyone think the ump was waiting for Broad to, y'know, appeal before giving it? Looked kinda plumb. Good ball though, darting in a long way.
I'm sure that can't endear him to umpires. I was at Cardiff and was staggered at how far he would get before even turning to the umpire. Sometimes he was past the batsman! And these were decisions that could have been given, but not plumb enough to overturn on DRS.

It still doesn't hurt to get the umpire on your side.

Much better bowling effort from England today. The coach did not have too many nice words for his lads and it's good that they have bounced back.

A top-notch side cannot be so fully reliant on one bowler that they completely capitulate in his absence. England certainly have the best bench strength of the three top nations. India's (over)dependence on Zaheer and South Africa's on Steyn is much more than England's on Jimmy.

Hey, he actually appealed that one! I get why he's banging every second one in (field is making him) but when you get it to dart in a long way, surely you'd be best off attacking the stumps as a rule?

Thought that was out for all money off the bat. I would not be trying that again.

EDIT: Only two? Hmm, a bit lazy.

Lol! Played, Athers.

To Holding: "No that's not disrespect. Kicking out the stumps is disrespect"

For the uninitiated (don't expect many on this forum, tbh), this is the incident Athers was referring to. Thanks to Robelinda, yet again!

The most pleasing thing about those rain delay classic matches is the reminder of just how good it is to have Graeme Swann :)
