***Official*** Sri Lanka in England and Ireland 2014

Yeah, massive given this lineup. Nice 50 but on TMS Boycs is saying he simply played acrosss the line at a ball that was hitting middle, which is just another soft dismissal. Typical Bell in a way - looking good but couldn't concentrate and make the most of it.

A couple more and we could be rolled over for something really silly.
Think Boycs is being a tad harsh on the bowling there. Maybe I'm wrong but it looked like it moved a bit.

It was pitching just on off and nibbled in didn't it?
Dunno, I'm listening on TMS and they haven't said either way.

If you're right, Bell shouldn't have been playing through mid-wicket at this stage, especially as he must know that it's moving around a bit.
Whereas if it had straightened from leg, I could understand the shot.

All centimetres and milliseconds though.

Lively run rate so far. Looking like 250ao shortly after tea.

Eranga is bowling inswing. It was swinging in, pitched just outside off, hit him on off going on to hit middle.

He shouldn't have been playing through mid-wicket, no.

I'm not sure if he actually was playing through midwicket or was just beaten by the swing (and even pace) and was thus just struggling to get his bat across in time.

In either case, Boycs definitely being harsh on the bowler because it was a great ball.

Fair enough - ta for the info

Moeen is such a gun. His timing is so good, had a couple of dodgy moments outside off, but hopefully he'll get through that and go on and make a score. Could have an exciting lower-middle order batting line-up in the future with Ali-Stokes-Buttler, add Bell in at 4 and you've got a seriously watchable batting line-up.

Yeah I should have wrote something like that, make a point then illustrate it rather than a somewhat incoherent sentence. Sorry about that.
Believe me, I'm the last person to have any right to criticise incoherence. Not that you were anyway.

I'm rather concerned that Sri Lanka have been unable to contain the run-rate all that well, firepower is lacking in this attack and if we can't contain in the future then we're in trouble if we aren't taking wickets.

Not had chance to see much yet, seems a weird batting order to me, Bell or Root should be 3 and Ballance 5 but the men who count obviously decided it was the right idea.

Great run rate so far, if we survive the full day we will have a decent score on the board.
