Jordan has to look for the boundary but just has to get bat on it more than anything - plays and misses at this stage absolutely break me

I'm glad SL won, if only to stop Vaughan getting his tackle out and to set up the decider.

Good game. Great innings.

Stunning from Buttler. Such a great talent. I'm probably getting swept up in the moment but **** it get him in the Test side. His keeping to quicks has improved night and day and we haven't got a good spinner so that won't matter.

Top order absolute pathetic. Total lack of ability to maneuver the ball or force the issue at all. Call it bizarre if you want, I'm questioning Root/Ballance when they perform as abjectly as they did today.

This is why Eng need Hales in the batting line-up imo.. or at least don't bat like it's a test match for 20 overs..

What a game that was, a pity England's top order is so hapless they almost didn't deserve a miracle win from Buttler.

From a SL perspective, I think what's missing from our ODI attack is some middle overs penetration, while we can do the strangle pretty well, it's harder in 50 overs than 20, so we need to supplement Sachi with a spinner who can take wickets during the middle overs and keep pressure on through wickets rather than simply run rate, because run rate can be made up but wickets can't. I think that's where Herath comes into the equation and Mendis doesn't, today Mendis did well early because the batsmen refused to go hard at him, which played into his hands, but when the game was taken to him he struggled, although after benefiting from a poor shot he kept Jordan quiet by using his variations well, I'll give him that. It's clear that SL have good opening and death bowlers, although the death bowling has been suspect this tour, but some more penetration in the middle overs would top it off, and we need Herath there because we don't have a pace option that can do that job for us.
