*Official* Sri Lanka in Australia 2010

Gutted I had to got out by the sounds of things. Went out just as Jayawardene was dismissed, still thought we'd be hammered. How the hell did they let it slip from 8-107!? Any dropped catches/chances in that partnership? Or just dross from Johnners/Siddle?

Ha, what a ****ing game. Headed to the common room to watch it at around 8:45 for a study break, figuring I'd see Australia wrap it up and then a replay of all the wickets and then back to study. Reckon I was cheering for Sri Lanka by the end as well, loved it. So good to see tailenders score runs, only disappointment was not getting to see more of Murali with the bat.

Now this is some epic fail Clarke interview. This guy CANNOT be test captain.
How so? What realistically could he have done? Limited options. Games like tonight show how keenly Symonds is missed as a spinning allrounder.

What a win!

FFS no Tharanga any more, no Chamara Silva any more. Bring in Chandimal and Mendis. We don't need brainless ***** at batting crease.

Thought he needed a long off/long on IMO. But apart from that, what can he do when two of our bowlers bowl like my school team

Just dont like his attitude. When Kim Hughes gave interviews when we were losing he might have looked like a kid but he talked old, and he looked like the defeat hurt. Clarke just doesnt look like it hurts enough when we lose, in my humble opinion. Contrast that with Punter, man he looks ANGRY when we lose, really bloody angry. Love it.

I remember when Ponting became odi captain he really fired up Lee, who was becoming expensive. Clarke should fire up Johnson.

Were you watching the same interview as me? Guy looked like someone had kicked him in the stomach and spat on him.

Definitely not his finest captaincy night but, what can he do? Basically asked everyone who could bowl to bowl, and it's not his fault they bowled absolute trash. Ironic that the best advice possible was probably that given by Mark Nicholas - bowl yourself.

Definately feel the Clarke/Hughes comparison. I don't think he used his bowlers well tonight, but to be fair, he wasn't given many good ones.

Masterstroke to take the batting powerplay when they did. It gave Malinga the chance to free his arms without the risk of hitting to a fielder in the deep. Once the five overs were completed the damage had been done and Malinga was set. The Australian pacemen bowled terrible, but I think this is more Sri Lanka's win than Australia's loss.

Ah what an awesome win. Whole office crammed itself into the cafeteria to watch the ending of that (thats saying alot because we got 1K+ over here). Fantastic game although that last run out had us a bit worried. Needn't have done that, why worry with Murali batting though. Great game, and yeah, curry tonight ;)

Maybe but if you need a bit of a freak wicket, I'd back Johnson in more so than Smith even notwithstanding Clarke's just announced back complaint.

There's not really a way to escape that Siddle and Johnson bowled plenty of stuff in their half to tail-enders on the mow. Were bowling for the top-edge, out, see ya Charlie but didn't get it then didn't know what else to do. Considering they were his only specialist bowlers, I reckon he deserves a bit of lattitude. He certainly didn't lose Australia the game, the batting did.
Agree 100%. Smith could have (and probably would have) been smashed even more severly if he was used. Then people would be saying, why wasn't Johnson used more?

The people at fault are the same people in Mohali. The bowlers. Johnson especially has now failed twice and contributed signifcantly to the loss of 2 matches. His inconsistancy suddenly becomes very noticable when pressure is on to win the match.

Plus, as you said, the batting to begin with was frankly ****. Even Hussey who kept the innings together should have been able to score more and put us in a more comfortable position. We also missed Ponting a lot...

Clarke as a captain has little to do with this loss imo.

There wasn't any bull**** towing of the line in Clarke's interview (that I could hear, I had long taken a nap and was still groggy)
