*Official* South African tour of England and Ireland 2022

Yep, I dont want to go there but I will, I wonder if the decision was based on the dreaded politics. If they wanted to add Harmer, maybe in the place of Ngidi, but...
If Harmer is in for Jansen, what's that got to do with things? Ngidi bowled well in the first Test, why leave him out? Maharaj/Harmer will score as many runs as England's 7/8 anyway.

Its weakening an already shaky batting line up and losing the variety in their bowling

Broad should be opening surely? I figured his ability to eat left-handed openers alive is the main reason why he's still in the team.

Totally unnecessary to pick Harmer at all. It seems like they got pressured by the media into thinking he needed a game at all. Of course picking him throws the batting order out of kilter and dictates having to bat first. This decision looks like letting England back into the series. Totally unnecessary.

I’m sure all Essex fans would rather Harmer was playing, if SA must take him away from Chelmsford.

My 91 year old grandad life member of Essex told me that anyway.

Hope for a Baz Ball 4th innings chase vs 2 spinners (plus a handy pace trio). Could get very interesting. SA needs to find big 1st innings runs from somewhere first though.

Disappointing for SA. Even though England have a Kiwi captain, Kiwi coach, and Kiwi spin coach, I want the Saffas to win (and hopefully get to the WTC final). Last 2 specialist batsmen.

It is crazy to think that South Africa, the greatest producer of top allrounders of all countries, has Maharaj (av of 16!) batting at 7.

They could get rolled for under 150.
